C&H Fabrics has a wide range of fabrics, buttons, beads, wools etc, and also a good selection of gifts. Prices are reasonably good. I always find when I go in that I can find what Im looking for easily. However, service isnt good, and the shop assistants are often quite rude, probably because Im young and their target customer is old.
Although it can be difficult to find what you want within this 3 storey shop, the staff are always keen to advise you and offer great ideas. There is a wide selection of craft products. The cafe is not exciting, providing avergae meals without much variety.
This is a good shop for buying textile and craft essentials and is good considering Winchester is quite a small town. The fabrics are god quality but there isn't the largest selection ever but they do practically every colour and you can find some nice patterns. It can be a bit pricey but nothing to ridiculous. The staff are friendly but can sometimes be a bit 'offish' with customers especially if they are younger like me. Apart from this it is a lovely store which is fun to browse even you don't buy anything.
When i was doing textiles at school this shop was wonderful as there is a huge range of fabrics and other bits and bobs that no other shop in Winchester seems to provide. I've also bought gifts here, and the coffee shop at the top is a nice peaceful spot to have a doughnut. The staff are always helpful and friendly.
i do not tend to buy much fabric but have been into the store and seems to have a large selection and the staff are friendly and always say hello and try to help you out if your looking a little lost inside, they also come tou your house and measure up and show you what they have in your own home.
A really expensive place to buy fabric material and craft items, if you have time you would spend a lot less going to a bigger city to shop. It has a wide selection of materials though, if you need something in a rush however the staff are never very helpful and I feel as though they are talking down to me when I dont understand very much about material.
I used to work here, the staff are very friendly and helpful and know a lot about the department and the materials that they work with. Especially good if you are making something like clothes or curtains.
A really good place to go if you are in to design, i recently made a dress and i bought all the materials i needed there. The staff were really helpful and also gave me lots of tips on how to make stuff.

Loads of cool fabrics and designs in this shop! for me it is quite expensive but i have heard it is actually quite a reasonable price! it has a cafe upstairs and friendly staff to help you if you ever need it!
There are a lot of floors with different materials and haberdashery for sale. The prices are good but the staff were not very friendly to me when i was trying to find some assistance.
There's a lot of stuff in here, and lots of floors with lots of stuff on, but the staff are really slow to help and not greatly helpful. They took ages to serve me and didn't apologise, I think it is because I am young...
A great range of fabrics and generally textile equipment spread over 3 floors. The staff are really nice and there is just generally a nice atmosphere.
Plenty of choice on all types of fabric, including curtains and blinds. They sell everything crafty and have many good ideas for gifts. Also has a lovely cafe with great tasting drinks and bites to eat.
ideal for anything fabric or diy in the home. whatever material you want, i bet you can find it in this place; the walls seem to be lined with the stuff. they also de a very good job of curtens and blinds. they had someone come round my house, who was very helpfull indeed.
Seems to sell a great range of goods that no one seems to know about! If you go up to the first floor it sells so much other than just crafty items! Thoroughly recommend this shop to one and all.
This shop has a wide range of thingymibobs. Lots of gifts and stuff. Its good if your quite crafty, however it can be quite expensive in some cases! The cafe is brilliant though! (go for the milkshakes!!)
A veritable sewing department store... They have everything fabric related and almost everything craft related, with lots of suggestions, patterns and helpful staff available. Their ribbon selection is unparalleled and you don't need to worry here about finding the exact button, fabric or the right size zip that you want.
Full of lots of interesting things, with the best part on the top floor. The cafe is great value and normally really delicious. I remember going there with mum when I was ill (not the best memory)
