What more can I say, Cheap food cheap beer, bags of space both inside and out £4.69 for a beer and a burger. It does get very busy and you do have to wait a while to be served sometimes.
This is one of the best Wetherspoons around. The garden area outside is huge, so unlike most beer gardens after the smoking ban, you can still sit outside and not have to deal with other people smoking right next to you.The pub has family areas so children are welcome. There is also a big tv screen, so it's a good place to go if you want to watch a sporting event. As always, the drinks and food are very reasonably priced and definitely good value for money.
The Impy is so student orientated that soon they will have to build a library- cheap fry-ups perfect for the morning after the night before.
This is a really nice place. It is fairly generic following the standard spoons setup, but the place is pretty big and has a nice seating area at the back with picnic tables and chairs. The food and drink is reasonable in quality and pretty compeitively priced. They do cheaper drinks on a Monday with something called Monday club which is well woth a look.
The Imperial is a pub that suits all types of people including students, locals, and visitors young and old. There is a range of Beer festivals held at various times of the year and an enormous beer garden to drink and eat outside in the summer. There is a good atmosphere, but it can get very crowded and although there are three bars, it can take a while to get served.
This is a fantastic wetherspoons based very near the university and incredibly popular with everyone. It is absolutely enormous witha number of different rooms decorated traditionally and a beautiful glass room as well which has a fantastic atmosphere. Extensive gardens are lovely in the summer. Drink deals are fantastic and the food is also good. Can be quite a wait when its busy- which is all the time! Cannot complain about prices which are fantastic. A huge vareity of drinks available - always a great time to be had there.
A massive Weatherspoons based out of towen. There are a selection of small and large tables, and sofas based inside and out. I would suggest sitting on the 'comfy' seats by the large window at th4e back of the pub for the nicest area. You always know what to expect of weatherspoons in terms of food and drink, and it delievrs. However parking is limited although prking by the University instead with a small walk is usually not a problem
Very big pub and gardens useful for large groups of uni students! Always welcoming staff, good service, cheap drinks and reasonably priced quality food. Cosy atmosphere and pretty gardens. Closer to the uni campus than town but worth a look if you don't mind a walk. I have fond memories of the place!
have been there a few times and has always been very busy. situated on the ouskirts of the town, and enjoys spectacular views of the city centre. As this pub is part of the whetherspoons chain, and so boasts cheap food and wine.if you fancy a cheap night out or a place to start the night than this is a great place!
I have only popped into the Imperial a few times on my way through town, its situated ideally on the slight outskirts of town with lovely views out into the valley. I enjoy sitting out in the garden (when the sun is out). I have had a meal here with a drink & found the food to be quite good and the costings were really reasonable. Being very close to the univeresity theis pub can get very crowded.
Cheap and big Wetherspoon, noisy and busy with inadequate car park, close to university. Specials by price and per day of the week.
Great pub if your in a large group as it has a buzzing atmosphere, but not ideal if you want a quiet romantic drink/meal. Unfortunatly it is situated a little too far out for it to be a pub-crawl pub, but an ideal place to start! Like all weatherspoon pubs they have food deals on different nights, think curry is a thursday, ideal for the wallet of a student and very close to the Exeter campus! Cheap prices, friendly staff, great atmosphere and has the added bonus of being in the most beautiful of buildings. Tip: If its a sunny day and you dont want to sit outside, or there's no tables, more likely, then sit in the former orangery, its beautiful.
The Impy is a massive pub with huge outdoor and indoor areas. Its very close to campus which means you'll almost always find loads of students there. There are two bars on the inside and 3 eating areas, because of its size it can get very busy and the queues sor the bar get enormous and it can be incredibly noisy. Outside it has a very impressive beer garden with loads of tables, ive never had any trouble finding somwhere to sit on a busy night. Drinks and food are at great prices and they do a curry night on thursday (curry and a drink for about £5 i think) which is definatly reccomended. Overall its a great place but it does get a little to busy for my liking.
Housed within a fabulous building complete with a huge beer garden & god size carpark. This is a Wetherspoons pub so the menu is a generic one, ut covers most tastes tough and the food is usually delivered quickly & well presented. Can get packed in the Summer. Good meal deal & drinks promotions. The bar staff are unfamiliar with the words 'customer' & 'service' unfortunatley.
The Imperial is housed in a fantastic building formerly the Imperial Hotel which in its day was very grand but stood empty for years before Wetherspoons took on the renovation. As with many chain pubs, the service is variable. I have found on occasions the cleanliness leaves a bit to be desired (check your cutlery if you are eating). The food is reasonable although being a Wetherspoons establishment the menu is the same as all the others. You cannot argue with the prices which can be good value for money if the 'chef' (I use the word advisably) is having a good day. The average age of the staff being around 21 means that they don't always understand the concept of working in the service industry. The large beer garden is nice in the summer but does get overrun.
The Imperial is a great pub to go to on a summer afternoon. There is a huge garden to sit in, the drinks are cheap (less than £2 a pint) and food, though not of the best quality, is incredibly affordable (you can get a burger and a pint for £3.99)The pub does lack atmosphere, but what it lacks for there, it makes up for in value. It can also get crowded during the winter, when people aren't outside, particularly at the weekends.
I agree that the building itself is beautiful, particularly the orangery anex. But I know that most Wheatherspoons pubs prepare their food in bulk, and just reheat it in the microwave. I've had some pretty shocking pieces of nuked fish in here.Plus, service at the bar is awful, even when the place is fairly quiet, it can take anything upto 15 minutes of queuing just to order your meal.
The student favourite due to it's proximity to campus and a number of halls, not forgetting it's cheap prices. An excellent pub, massive in size - has 2 bars, the one "inside" and the one (also inside) in a massive glass house looking out on beautiful views over Exeter. The meals are fairly standard, don't expect much in quality although the portion sizes are OK. You can tell it's just been heated up from frozen rather than being cooked though. Waiter service is usually quite good although the wait can go up quite a lot depending on the time of day/what day. Curry night is good (I believe it's Thursday? Not sure)Outside in the summer is really nice, huge garden looking down to St. Davids train station. Can sometimes become a bit rowdy, stay away if you're looking for a quiet family meal (or go early)
This Weatherspoons pub is situated and built around an old Orangery in Exeter and it has a truely amazing design. The pub has its own carpark at the front and a huge, grassy beer garden. This is great for summer, when the cheap food and drinks can be appreciated among a mass of friendly customers. However, sometimes the service can be rather slow, and the food is not of the best standard, even if it is cheap.
