I rarely call a premium number now thanks to this site!! What a fantastic idea, they give you lists of other numbers you can call and its surprising how many are freephone tot, the companies that use 0870 etc numbers need a kick up the bum cos if they offered a free service it would be fine to hang on the phone for their 45 minute waits!

Whenever I have to make a phone call to any 08457 or other similar number i always look at this site first to see if they have a free phone number or a cheaper number to call. i was surprised at how many do have an alternative number and you get through to the same people! I have saved money by looking at this site before making phone calls so I would definatly reccomend it to everyone (its free to use the site, you dont have to join and you can add numbers)

I spent 24 minutes on the phone to HTC, on an 0870* number. It cost me a bomb. I searched for a solution, and since finding this site i have had no problems at all. It certainly has saved me a lot of money and i definitely recommend this site!

My husband introduced me to this website, and its such a great idea, and great if you need to ring from a mobile, where 0870 numbers can be really expensive. Type in the name of the Business you want to ring, or the 0870 number you have, and it will give you the 01/02 number. The website is a bit of a mess, but who cares when its saving you money!

I completely agree. Glamour magazine had this in one of their articles on how to save money, and have been using it ever since I've come across a number that begins in 0870/0845 or something that will charge me a lot per minute. It gives the local numbers like 01/02 numbers which are landline numbers, and you can either search via the number or the business. =)

This is now my favourite website (sorry helphound). You simply search the company or phone number that you want to get a different number for. It finds you an alternative number that is either free or local. Its particularly good for 0870 and 0845 numbers. Its great if you have a home phone and you get to speak to the right person quicker.

I have just added a geographic number to the address details of Kwik Fit's Watford branch, by typing in the higher cost 0870 999 7045 number to a 'find an alternative number' box on this website. This gave me the geograhic number for Kwik Fit's Head Office, (luckily, as the Watford branch number wasn't showing, though other branch numbers were). Kwik Fit's Head Office immediately gave me the geographic number for their Watford branch. I then simply entered the 0870 number into a 'provide an alternative number' box on this website, and then entered the 01923 249892 number and bingo! the new number is there for other people to use!

I could then ring Kwik Fit Watford at a geographic rather than a premium rate.

A great website that could save you loads of money! Just type in the 0870 number you need to call and the website will find the local area number for the call centre so you can ring that instead! It's totally legal and gives you a feeling of achievement when you've beaten the 0870 number. If only there were more websites like this one.....

Discovered this on HelpHound. It's a great idea. Stops you getting ripped off by calling premieum rate numbers and suggests cheaper alternatives. Just enter the 0870 number you need to call, do a search, and they'll usually find a better option. Has apparently featured on the BBC, too, so it's got a good reputation.

This website which can convert most 0870 expensive phone numbers to an equivalent standard landline number beginning (01) or (02) it's an extremely good idea! It has saved me a lot of money in the long term and also works for 0845 numbers. It's definitely worth knowing about and telling friends and family. You can contribute to the site yourself by adding any alternative numbers you may be aware of.
