Nice bar
I really like the Picture house at Exeter. I has a personality unlike most of the other bigger cinemas and it has a nice bar upstairs which is really cool and you are allowed to take your drinks in with you which is a bonus. They show unusual films as well as the usual stuff.

Something special
This place is a cinema with heart. it doesn't show the big blockbusters unless they have been out a while, but it shows a huge range of recent movies plus some really art house ones and also has vintage nights where you can see old black and white movies back up on the big screen. It is a fabulous place. yes parking is a bind, but catch a bus to the middle of Exeter and walk, it's not far. Very good value, especially if you become a member. Oh yes, and the bar upstairs is cool. Definately the place to go to see a good movie!

I really like this cinema, it costs about £5.20 for admission but if you join as a member you get a concession, they also have "Orange Wednesdays" where admission is half price. The Picturehouse shows all of the current blockbusters but is also good if you are into arthouse and foreign films.
They have a bar upstairs, the drinks can be a bit pricey, but it is a nice environment to relax in. They also have quiz nights and games nights in the bar during the week.
This Cinema would have to be Exeters 2nd best cinema for me after Vue because as a 14 year old boy I like to watch more exiting, thrilling films and the latest ones too. I have been to this cinema 2 times in the past week and think that it is definately the best cinema in Exeter for buying popcorn, drinks and sweets asit is much cheaper than the Odeon or the Vue.
The parking is a pain, silly bollards in the way so it makes it a tight squeeze for any car. If had more of the latest films and appealed to youger people as well as older it would definately be the best cinema in Exeter for me. Still a very enjoyable visit whenever I go there.
Quite like this place, as it has a bar, but it kind of reminds me of my mum and old people, and it is trying to be a bit too "ARTY" good films on sometimes though, but i prefer exeter cinemas in this order, VUE, PH, ODEON
I'd almost rather not go to see a film if it's not at the PictureHouse. This completely changes the going to the cinema experience. Lovely place, fab and comfortable bar (sometimes abit busy), none of the blockbuster films, but a good range of films. Love it! Parking abit of a problem on busy nights; you just have to perservere. It's definitely worth it.
The Picturehouse specialises in showing arty and foreign films which makes a nice change from the Odeon and the Vue. Although it only has two screens, the films change regularly and the cinema has a warm atmosphere and is friendly and welcoming.
Nice comfy seats located in an intimate two screen cinema. I love the quirkyness of the place, and how it doesn't make money from big blockbusters. It focuses on arty low cost movies, but it also shows modern films as well! My favourite is the bar, what a novel idea, you have a glass of wine as you sit back and unwind!
Love the idea of a bar in a cinema, a nice place to meet friends before going to watch a film. They don't show all the new films, I'm not sure how they decide on which films to show, it's certainly not only the good ones..seems very random.A very nice cinema in all, can't really compete on the same level as the Vue and the Odeon however.
Great cinema! Less conventional, the lack of Blockbusters, Independent films makers and arty-fartsy films is what awaits you in the Picturehouse! It's a educated film-lovers idea of heaven! And the fact that they let you take your beverages in with you! Well that's the cherry on top!
My favorite cinema. Small and intimate. Those who like to seek out the less ordinary will be satisfied here - a movie lovers dream. A community minded cinema. I just don't go often enough to justify the membership - if only I had more time and money.2 screens. Comfy seats. Interesting films. Repeat showings (ah! there's a good idea). Book online. There is a great bar upstairs which often adds to the buzz.Good coffee downstairs. Can be a bit stifling in rally hot weather. Asimov says "The thinking man/woman's cinema. People who wear proper clothes and shoes and communicate in sentences go here."
Lovely seating within the two screens, can get very busy so you should try and book ahead. Attractive decor & seating options in the upstairs bar/coffee shop. They also sell cakes & sweets & crisps. Also, if you ask prior to your pint being poured they will but it into a plastic cup so you can drink it while you watch your film. Good sound system & choice of films.
The PictureHouse is small, friendly and comfortable. The screens are intimate, and the foyer is welcoming. The films shown range from a selection of the largest blockbusters (such as Harry Potter) to art-house, indy and international films, which makes an excellent change from the other cinemas in Exeter that just show the regular 'big-bucks' movies. You can also become a member for a small fee, and the PictureHouse run regular members-only screenings of interesting, quirky films, which are free to attend.
I love the Exeter Picturehouse. It's quite a small cinema with a great bar area upstairs. The real strength of the cinema is the fact that they show independent films and non-blockbusters. The films are changed really regularly so there is always something to see. You can buy coffee to take in with you - it's a small thing but it makes me happy! Parking is a nightmare though due to the location.
Everything about the Picturehouse makes it Exeter's best cinema - except the parking. Its scheduling is great, the bar is fun and the seats are comfortable - Go!
For people who tend to get a little bored of mainstream Cinema, you can always rely on Exeter Picturehouse for something different to watch. One of a Nation-wide chain of Cinemas screening independent films, Picturehouse usually have some interesting left-of-centre listings.Everything from French New Wave, Dogme, Indie, Gonzo - all are considered here. Plus the slightly more mainstream, but Block Buster free line-ups that Hollywood manages to release occasionally. Also, Picturehouse's membership deal gets you 3 free tickets when you join, plus £1.80 off further tickets thereafter. Standard membership costs around £25 pa. - So to a regular, its well worth it.At Exeter Picturehouse they have a bar/cafe upstairs which is great to hang out in before or after a film, plus they put on regular events, like poetry readings, live jazz & acoustic music nights, Kids clubs etc.
