Spent many a fine evening with friends sitting in the cosy sheltered pretty candlelit beer garden until 3am in the morning sampling the gigantic home made 14" pizza's ( around 7 each) and slurping the house wine at just 5 a bottle with live jazz playing in the background ! A warren of candlelit crook's and crannys spread out over three floors. I have been told by locals the Old Firehouse was Will Youngs favourite haunt when he was studying at Exeter University and i was also pleasantly surprised to see Joss Stone drinking here with friends very recently ! Highly recommended.for a pleasant time with a very student friendly crowd...... arrive early though to grab a pew as the Old Firehouse gets busy just about every night of the week.
saturday night live jazz and world music is a must!nothing beats sitting in the pub garden, eating good food, drinking cheap wine and ales, and listening to the fantastic live music !
A very atmospheric pub set over 3 floors, close to the city centre. The food is incredibly good value for money and is all homemade. It is very cosy and friendly, and even better now it is non-smoking. Does get very busy, especially when the students are around, you have to arrive early to get a table
Beautifully decorated anf friendly staff, a great place to go before a night out! The food is to die for and so are the prices, as you can pick up a bottle of wine for a fiver not bad hey! It does attract the students. They sometimes have live bands which is good and it has a great atmosphere!
always the first choice of pub before a night out! has a fantastic atmosphere which you cannot help but love! the live music on certain nights adds to the atmosphere! set on 3 floors is always busy and need to get here quite early if you want a good table! the food is really good here and very reasonable, try the cheese and bean loaf if you want a snack! the pasta is also delicious! drinks are about the same as you can expect to pay anywhere in exeter, however the bottles of wine are great at only £5!!
A nice place to go before a night out. Their deal on wine is excellent- although is a little to be desired if you're picky! be aware though it can get busy particularly on popular student nights.
One of the nicest pubs I have ever encountered and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone. A converted fire station it has amazing rustic charms, bare brick walls, candle lit tables spread out on three floors and an intimate courtyard. Again they offer wine for £5 and a good choice of gorgeous food at competitive prices. Really homely and welcoming, you'll understand when you go there!
Really great pub, you definitely need to get there early if you want to eat or just sit down. Lovely natural stone flooring, quaint interior, candle lit, if your in a large group your best bet is to go upstairs as they have larger tables. The food is all freshly cooked and they "don't do frying" they have snacks and larger meals to suit all tastes and apatites. If it's a lovely sunny day make the most of their court yard beer garden which is covered and really comes to life at night.
I love this pub! It has a cozy rustic charm and is a great place to go on a date as it is lit by candles but can also get quite lively as well. It is spread over 3 floors and sells cheap food and drink. The food is locally sourced and always fresh. They have live folk and jazz bands at the weekends but go early as tables get full pretty quickly. Their bear garden at the front is pretty and the whole pub just gives off a laid back, cozy, intimate feeling.
On the small side, but has a lovely beer garden to the front. No parking close by. Friendly and efficient staff. Delicious doorstep sarnies. Can get packed in the evening. Live music on offer, including Jazz & blues. Lovely decor & comfy seating.
I personally love this place, even though very often it is impossible to find a seat due to how crowded it is.The Firehouse has 3 floors, with a bar on the top and ground floor levels (same with the toilets). The insides are very nicely decorated in a classic old tavern style with random objects pinned the walls and old dark oak furnishings. The prices are OK, really cheap or a bit expense depending on what you choose. A bottle of house white for example at five pounds is excellent. The staff are also very friendly in there, more so than other pubs - and they welcome students with open arms.
The Firehouse is definitely one of Exeter's best pubs - it offers a bottle of house wine for £5 (red / white or Rose) and serves hearty, tasty food made from local prduce. The food is cheap and portions are large enough to satisfy the hungriest of punters, expect Jacket potatoes, pie and gravy and bangers and mash over cordon bleu. The atmosphere is intimate, yet sociable and is spread over three floors and a covered patio area. Because of its popularity, the Firehouse is ALWAYS busy, so you need to get there early if you want a table, particularly if you are going out as a large group.
The Old Firehouse has a really nice atmosphere, different to a lot of the bars and pubs in Exeter. It's a good place to go for a drink and a chat with mates, and it also serves a wide variet of good food at really reasonable prices if you go for a meal. The service is usually friendly and quick, and all the times I've been there we have been able to find somewhere to sit pretty easily, though I have heard that at busier times it gets pretty crammed.
I regret that Ive only been here once, I really enjoyed myself. Chunky wooden tables and candles provide a great atmosphere and the place is full of character. The drinks are very reasonably priced (bottle of wine £5). The food is also fantastic, cheesy garlic bread is highly reccomended. Only negative side is that it gets pretty noisy, but none the less a great night out.
The Old Firehouse is a great place to enjoy cheap wine, at £5 a bottle, a bustling atmosphere and live bands, usually from thursday to sunday nights. It has an intimate atmosphere with candles on large wooden tables packed within three floors. However, this pub gets very busy and crowded and it can become hard to move, or find a seat, so you need to get there early. Traditional English food is also available and of a good standard.
Famous for it's £5 bottles of wine and live music at the weekends, Firehouse is a great place to go for a drink or some honest English food. The building itself is lovely and the venue is set into three floors each with large wooden tables so you may find yourself sharing one with other people, unless you are in a large group. The lighting is usually candals so it can be quite dark but often this just creates more atmosphere. The food is good for the cheap price but often you may find it is already upstairs by the time you have finished ordering it downstairs so do not expect it to be made from scratch on the premises.
