If you're looking for something free and cultural to do in the city centre, this is a great place to start. The buildings are beautiful, and were recently renovated. Some of the most notable works include Henry Moore sculptures (including the one that makes the art gallery instantly recognisable at the top of the gallery steps.) Enough to keep you entertained for a good few hours, and a must-see if you're coming to the city as a tourist. It's ridiculously easy to find, and most buses going into the city from the south and west go right past it.

A great place if you're in Leeds and after somewhere cultural to visit! This place is free to get in, with only a small fee applied when there is a specific exhibition on. Exhibitions vary from month to month and they offer a great variety! The building itself is beautiful and I personally could spend hours here - the cafe is cute and they offer a variety of the different pieces of art on display in postcard format, so it's great if you want to take something home with you

Outside of London, this art gallery boasts one of the most impressive collections of art in the whole country. And it changes it's exhibitions so frequently that it's a good idea to keep coming back month after month. They've just done it up too, meaning that even the building itself is a work of art!

Leeds art gallery is a must if you're visiting leeds. You can spend anything from half an hour to a day in there, and its free to get in which is a plus. I really loved the tiled hall where the cafe and shop are situated, its really beautifully decorated and the ice cream the serve in there is delicious! Definitely take a trip :)

A really great asset to the city, this free gallery has a wide range of modern and classical art. It is in a traditional building and has a very conventional art gallery format with lots of space to contemplate the work on show. Its set out over three floors and we have had to visit for our course on numerous occasions, the staff are really helpful and they have a range of great merchandise including cheap postcards and prints.

Even though I'm not very art orientated I really enjoyed the gallery, and it's nice to go and look at pieces of art you wouldnt normally be exposed to.There is something for everyone at Leeds Art Gallery. You will find traditional prints, watercolours, paintings and sculptures as well as contemporary works .

really good art gallery in the centre of the city, as an art history student i frequent the gallery on a regular basis and so know that the exhibtions change regularly and you always get to see something new and exciting, they must have a really good curatorial team, it is set in a beautiful building and boasts a henry moore sculpture outside, even if you are not an art fan there is something for everyone, whether you like older art or more modern experimentation, there is a brilliant book shop attahced too which stocks a wide range of interesting art books
