I think that Boden is good for a few basic pieces, but the clothes can work out very expensive, especially for the childrens clothes that will be grown out of quite quickly. The clothes are hardwearing though, and the quality is good.
I love Boden clothes and don't agree that they are all the same! The quality is great and everything I have ever bought is a high quality. This review is mainly about the excellent customer service department on their website. The staff are always polite, friendly and extremely helpful. I will continue to be a loyal customer to this excellent company!
Boden have some great quality clothes however i often feel that a lot of the clothing or "new idea" overlap and are very similar. I love the pajama's and the shirts are great quality.
Boden are stuck in a rut - the designs are the same season after season. Who needs another floral mac/coat? I'm bored of the catalogue. Kids clothes are expensive. On a positive note, their handbags are fairly priced (under £100). Beware ladies you could look like a walking advert for Boden.
All hail Boden - originator of the printed welly and funky pajama bottom. If you are looking for clothes to compliment a sunshine-on-a-wintery-day/skipping-down-a-country-lane/collecting-pebbles-on-the-beach-with-perfectly-attired-children sort of vibe then this is the place for you.The website is really easy to use and has helpful features such as as a straightforward guide to stock levels of every garment in every size. And there is also a sale section, should the above vibe be accompanied by a frugal turn of mind. The catalogue is well presented with an astute marketing strategy to reel in its target consumer (cue photograph of ruddy-cheeked model romping through the trees in a tweed skirt and velvet trimmed top - Model: Anna. Favourite place to be on an autumn day: Walking through a forest). It will make you want to buy something. And, really, why not?
I love looking through the Boden catalogue. I find I don't tend to buy too much from them. The prices are quite high but the quality and fit is generally good. They have a really useful website which has much better images than the catalogue. The zoom function is particularly good on images. I do find that the clothing, especially the prints can be very easily identified as Boden. My favourite game at Chelsea Flower Show this year was identifying the origin of the outfit - Boden is an easy one to spot.
All credit to Jonnie Boden for persevering and completely re-inventing mail order clothes. Unfortunately, speaking as a man, Boden has been left behind from the point-of-view of quality (the last pair of trousers I bought were decidedly inferior - fit, material). Their styles tend to be a bit too identifiably 'Boden' for me as well.In the last few years many catalogue companies have sprung up - some based on shops (Pakeman,Catto & Carter, Oliver Brown) so pure MO (Charles Tyrwhitt, Turners) selling really good quality stuff at really reasonable prices.
