The Sanctuary Bookshop, Lyme Regis

Possibly the best second-hand bookshop in the world. I'm not sure exactly what it is that makes this place so special or so charming...perhaps it is the higgledy-piggledy arrangement of bookshelves, the sea views, the soft tinkle of jazzy swing music that makes you tap your feet as you peruse the shelves, the white-beared fellow who owns the shop (and appears to have stepped directly from the pages of a nautical adventure)...maybe it is simply that the place is rammed with all kinds of books from the contemporary to the antique. Whatever it is, don't miss the chance to pay a visit.
