I feel compelled to write a review of Marks and Spencer based on my recent experience in the Exeter store. I bought a pair of fabulous double buckle patent leather Mary Jane shoes in Marks' recently (amazingly 'on trend' and a great price at £39.50 for leather rather than the usual PVC - also available in grey suede - tough choice!). I'm not generally a big fan of their footwear but was immediately drawn to these. They became my new favourite shoes. Unfortunately I noticed that they had started to split slightly on the side seam and resolved to take them back to test Marks' legendary customer service. I was unable to find my receipt but could remember when I bought them. Anyway...due to the utter fabulousness of said shoes and their inclusion in the M&S sale - they did not have any left to exchange for the faultly pair (my preference). I was therefore forced to receive a refund. The Customer Service staff did not question my lack of receipt or indeed use this to refund the sale price only (many other retailers would have). I left Marks and Spencer reluctantly sans new favourite shoes but happily with my money back so at least I can try to find another pair of new favourite shoes. I cannot fault the service I received - I can only mourn the loss of my shoes.Other points on the store: Great food, good range of womens wear (not entirely my cup of tea but worth a look for the odd thing) bright spacious store, good accessories. Look out for the great value range for some bargains. M&S certainly seem to have increased VFM but occasionally I think with the sacrifice of a little quality (too much acrylic!)

The reason I'm adding my view to a long list of reviews of Exeter M & S is that I discovered yesterday that they sell reading glasses there! Found them up on the third floor in Men's Clothing. Quite a decent range, fairly priced.Otherwise, well, I'm an M & S fan these days and Exeter is a very good store. Like the Per Una range (apart from some of the weird skirts), and their other special ranges and knitwear is good. Lovely underwear these days.My only gripe, whenever I've bought underwear, socks , tights or school stuff for my children there, they NEVER have the size I want .... and so it continues to be as they grow up. Weird! I wanted Age 14 school shirts, and they had every other size except 14! Perhaps they need to carry more stock of these items.

This store looks much more modern now it has been refurnished, which has helped them a lot with their image. It is in a good location in the city centre, and has four floors selling food stuffs, homeware and clothes. Prices are quite expensive, but as to be expected in Marks and Spencer.

The food hall does sell really tasty food, although it is more expensive than other supermarkets. It has a bakery in store and also sells a good range of sandwiches, salads and other lunch items.

ths food hall is great for stocking up the house with essentials. although slightly more expensive than tescos or sainsburys, the quality of the food is definately worth it! has a good range of basic clothes for all ages, although not exactly fashionable, the clothes are of good quality and very reasonable.the cafe upstairs is always very busy, serving both hot and cold food and drinks.

Marks & Spencer is a good place to buy quality clothes for children and adults. However, it does not have much fashion sense and sometimes the cut of the clothes are much to be desired. This aside, the food is some of the best around, and is truely delicious. It is rather pricey, but the quality counteracts this.

Marks and Spencers have better design than the quality of the food. I dont think is better than Sainsbury and the prices are much higher

This store ahs a great location in the city centre. Although the clothes are not my cup of tea, there is a great choice and their under wear section is fab. I particulalrly enjoy the food hall though which is quite big. I particualrly enjoy the brie and grape sandwhiches, the muffins (which have a gooey centre) and their fruit selecetion. You can also get a good deal with birthday cards with large handcrafted cards at £3 and cheap but good cards at just £1 or less

Recently refurbished, Marks & Spencers have literally turned their granny image around and done a very good job of looking more modern - whether that be in their signs, store design, staff uniform, product packaging or clothing range!A very nice store now with 4 very large floorplan stories selling groceries, clothings and homewares. The staff on checkout are always friendly and will help you find or reach something you need. The prices are typical of Marks & Spencers stores, slightly upmarket but not too much so that you can't afford anything.
