Be warned...once you register on Ebay you will become hooked! They need to make an EA support group!!! The website is well laid out and easy to navigate. The feedback system is really good for helping you find a trusted seller. You can buy some really good bargains for a very small price. And you will find pretty much anything you could think of somewhere on Ebay.
Also as a seller it is a great way to earn a bit of extra money. The fees can be a bit much sometimes but they have special days when the fees are small so take advantage!!
My only criticism is that there isn't a direct phoneline to ring if you have any trouble, it is all done through FAQ's and automated emails which can get very frustrating.

You would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't heard of ebay and the majority of people I know seem to have an account and be active users. The concept is great for buyers and sellers alike. I have had some brilliant bargains like a Brand New designer dress for 14. However, I have also been sent items that have disappointing.

While eBay certainly has its shortcomings, I feel that the positives outweigh these hugely, both as a seller and particularly as a buyer. The site is fairly easy to navigate and is now so popular that you can find almost anything you are looking for. The feedback system is frequently improved to remove cheats who in the past could influence their own feedback to make it look as if they were more reputable than they were. On the whole the site is used by honest people and with common sense you can avoid most fraudsters and con artists! As a seller, the site is easy to use but it is quite time consuming to list items. The fees can be a bit steep but these are proportionate to the starting price of your item.

As a buyer - this site is excellent. You can choose to bid for items, which, in my opinion, is more fun and you can grab yourself a better bargain, or you can use their "buy it now" feature which does exactly what it says on the tin! I love that ebay has an easy and simple way to view a sellers rating, making you feel more at ease when you purchase. A newer feature from ebay is that buyers can not receive negative feed back from sellers, this way you can leave your honest thoughts about the sellers service without the fear of them retaliating by leaving negative feedback for you. As a seller - this site is disappointing, the fees that ebay charge are horrific and I feel that i would make more money by selling my small bits and pieces down a car boot!

I love eBay! It's easy to get addicted to because there are so many bargains to be had, but I do agree that postage fees can add to prices significantly so you're not getting things for as cheap as you think. My trick is to have the search results in order of 'price + p&p': lowest first' to make sure you're getting the best deal. By checking you seller's feedback you increase your buying security and I have never had any problems.

I have used ebay several times, primarily for games and consoles. My own experiences have only ever been positive; this is possibly because I only buy from people with lots of positive feedback. Having said that, if buying an expensive item, it's a good idea to actually look at the feedback from buyers rather than simply relying on high percentages - be particularly suspicious if the feedback has suddenly turned negative in the last few days, as this is a sign of someone selling a load of cheap items to artificially improve their feedback rating, so they can scam people later on.

Anyway, all the items I've ever bought on ebay have arrived promptly and in good condition. There are many items (such as a Japanese Sega Saturn with all three Shining Force III scenarios, two of which were never released in the UK) that I simply wouldn't have been able to obtain anywhere else. And yes, I do buy some slightly less obscure items as well.

A good idea but not for me! I hate the fact that the delivary price is not included in the price of the item as i often look at something and think oo thats well priced but actually it isn't! Furthermore pictures can sometimes be decieving, i once recieved a tshirt that stunk of smoke and the smell just wouldnt be washed out!

The bad side of it is the dodgy sellers that are often found, which is a lot of hassle when needing to get your money back. Other than that, there are many sellers who are really understanding and are of great assistance. The layout of the website makes transations a lot quicker and easier and ebay security overall makes people feel alot safer.

Ebay is pretty good to get some bargains and its really safe too so you wont get ripped off. However i hate having to bid and wait up all night for something and tickets are always on sale minutes after they go up on the real sites so i dont think that should be allowed.

eBay is a great site to use if you want to sell something to make some quick cash. You can sometimes make a bit of a good buisness out of eBay if you buy in bulk through it then sell it a bit more expensively through it again. You can also pick up some pretty good bagains, or find some really rare stuff on the site. On the other hand you have to watch out because there are alot of scams on eBay.

The interface is straight-forward, so that even the relatively uninitiated can get to grips with it quickly. The search engine is excellent, as is the bidding system. As a site that relys on it's content though, it's greatest strength is that everyone (even Transformers, apparently) use it.

It is open to abuse though, and more than a little caution is advised when spending any quantity of money, but Ebay work hard on keeping this down, and when combined with a Paypal account, when things go wrong they are usually quick to amend them.

Ebay have made yet more changes to their service and once again they are more annoying than useful. They are now going to take note of what computers you regularly log into ebay from and if someone logs into your ebay account from a different computer they will call you on your phone to verify its you before they let you on. Except instead of targetting people who bid on items with no intention to buy or hackers they are only doing it if you try to list an item from another computer. I wasnt aware that there was hackers listing items in other peoples names. For a start its a right faff listing things in the first place so i cant imagine many people doing it for a laugh. Basically i think its a silly idea thats more faff than its worth and isnt even targeting the right people. Ebay was fine the way it was and they need to just leave it.

quite agree with ollie definelty one of the most amazing inventions. You can spend hours trawling through the endless products from clothing to electircal goods to housewear. I often buy second hand vintage wear from sellers here. I can always check there rating and the feeback form other customers on how reliable thay are so know whether or notto buy from them.

It is really easy and safe to use. You just need to set up and account and away you go. The use of paypal helps with keeping your money safe during payments. A really useful way of getting ready of some old stuff and buying things cheaply. Hoever its annoying when you are being cheated and you dont receive the item you have paid for which has happened to a friend of mine.

The first place to look for hard to find items, a massive range of sellers from all around the world. Some are more reliable than others, it can take a bit of experience or just common sense to know who to trust; the feedback left by others often gives you the most valuable information. I have bought from eBay many times and have never had any problems that weren't later solved by the seller. I will continue to use it in the future.

Ebay is a great place to buy, someone will be selling practically anything you could possibly want and you can usually get it cheaper than in shops. You have to be careful of fakes especially if you are buying designer items but if you are careful enough you can usually tell the fraudsters. It is also quite easy to claim your money back through paypal if someone does rip you off. However as a seller on ebay they have recently made a few changes, such as no leaving negative feedback to buyers and you must accept paypal as a method of payment, that i dont think is the best idea because although it benefits buyers it hinders sellers and after all to have buyers you have to have sellers too but i have definately been put of selling lately.

I find eBay a great help for comparing prices and checking values. I have not used it much myself, but am aware that profitable trading can be done using eBay. There are guides on how to use eBay to advantage whether buying or selling. E.G. by entering a slightly wrong spelling of the item to search. Such items may get few bids and you may get a bargain. Or you could sell a course for bad spellers on eBay to help them raise their profits.

A great auction website, can find anything, stuff that got discontinued AGES ago at great prices, and also great designer labels at much cheaper than the retail price. But be careful, because some people do scam, so read ALL the information about the product, because some of the products being sold are actually websites the person sells you to go buy the product. And many fakes are on too, so if the price is TOO good to be true, it probably is. Recommended.

a great invetion, this is the best place in the world to buy thigns as everything is so much cheaper. I bought some speakers that were brand new and retail for around 250 and i bought them for 40, this was 2 years ago and they are still working. also is a great place if you missed out on tickets for a concert but i must say i would not buy my house on ebay think thats is a little silly

I found eBay was a very reliable service. Pretty much anything I wanted I could easily find on the website, and I have often found myself a good deal. Although there are some drawbacks of the service, you may find some sellers are not reliable. They may not send the products to you in time, and they may send faulty items. However, this problem can quite easily be solved. Simply look at the seller's feedback; if it is good then chances are the seller will be reliable. Generally eBay is a good online service that I will certainly be using for years to come. With little competition online, I can see eBay being popular for a very long time.

EBay can have some fantastic bargains listed but unfortunately in order to find them you must first scroll through a lot of tat. The photo preview of the object is often not particularly clear and sellers are free to inflate their postage charges to well above the actual cost. EBAY can be an addictive site but you have to be really careful you know exactly what you're buying. Quite often the description for an item is only a couple of words therefore it is often misleading. This happened to me when buying a phone which was ridiculously cheap but it didn't make it clear I had to buy their contract with it therefore my advice is be cautious.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed eBay yet! Easily one of the top 5 sites on the net, you can buy and sell virtually anything, from cars to books, games to computers, all at bargain prices. It is easy and safe to use - abuse is something eBay take very seriously, so unless you're REALLY unlucky, you won't get screwed with - and even if you do, eBay will help resolve any disputes. On a slight aside, I find it very funny how 3 of the 5 negative reviews on here come from the same person...as does one of the nuetrals!

Ebay have recently changed their feedback policy for sellers and i personally think it is ridiculous. They have made it so sellers can no longer leave anything but positive feedback for buyers. Although i agree something about feedback needs to be changed because i admit there has been a few times when i have wanted to leave negative feedback as a buyer but havent for fear the seller will leave me negative out of spite, i definately do not think this is the answer.
Ebay are completely ignoring the fact buyers also have responsibilities such as to pay on time, to even pay at all, to read listings properly and to accept the royal mail do lose things (because some buyers seem to think sellers control how fast the post travels). Sellers have the right to cancel bids from people who ignore these responsibilities but now there will be no way to find out.
Ebay is still fine for buyers but they are making so many rules to make it harder for sellers such as this and the new rule where sellers must accept paypal.
