The dell website is easy to understand and use, and I have had a dell laptop for nearly three years. However, in that time my battery life has gone from over 2 hours, to about 20 minutes, and the only replacement battery you can get is from dell, which costs about £140. My brother also has a dell laptop and his battery has done exactly the same, and we also had to buy a replacement keyboard, which could only come from dell and was expensive. Parts also seem to have to be shipped from the US, which means that there is an expensive shipping charge and it takes 2-3 weeks for them to arrive, which is frustrating. As has already been mentioned, the prices on the website are somewhat misleading, as you are going to have to spend more if you want to add any kind of extras. I'm looking forward to getting a new laptop from a different company.
I've never had any real problems with my desktop that I got from dell.co.uk, but I don't like the fact that you the only additional componenet you can get that are compatible with Dell computers are those that are made by Dell - and they are very overpriced. Customer service also wasn't that great, and the prices advertised (all this 'laptops from 299...) bear no relation to the prices you actually pay, because they charge extra for anything they possibly can...
e.g. their latest pop-up advert advertises a laptop 'from £199' - great, ok, so go onto the site, select all the upgrades you want (extra for antivirus protection, extra for warrenties, extra for microsoft office, extra for more memory etc. etc.) Even without any upgrades, the actual price is over £250, as the advertised £199 doesn't include any VAT or shipping!!

Good site where i bought my laptop from. The prices for laptops are reasonable and I liked the way you could customise it to make it with the specs and features that you liked. However I have only had my laptop for a couple of months and have already had problems with it including the battery failing to charge and windows being unable to start up! I have recently had to send it back to them and am waiting for it to be returned

A great website where the user can actually build his own pc to order - you can customize the whole look and specification of the pc to your needs and wishes. Also the pricing is very cheap and delivery is quite often free
The dell website is a good site providing information on the items which they have in stock at the time, the items they do not have in stock and delivery aspects. Good website.
Dell have built up a really good reputation over the last few years mainly due to their original approach and good business model. Being able to design your desktop or laptop exactly how you want it is great, you can really save money by not getting stuff you don't need. Dell's service is very impressive and their products are very reliable. They are also one of very few computer manufacturers who offer the option of having linux installed free of charge, saving you a lot of money if you can do without windows. Definitely good value for money and a good first stop if you're looking for a new computer
A great website for purchasing a new laptop or desktop computer. With the "design your own" idea you can create the system that will perfectly suit your needs. Always offers available such as double your memory for free and the system always are a very cheap price! can purchase these machines from shops either
Dell are one of the few companies who actually make pretty laptops for a decent price. Unless you want to pay about 800 most laptops are silver and boring. You can get a pink one elsewhere, but it will be a kids one with a tiny screen and hardly any memory. The Dell inspiron range comes in a huge range of colours, starts under 400 and you can basically build your laptop to your specifications including processor, monitor size, hard drive size and add extras such as webcams and it tells you exactly how much extra each upgrade costs so you dont get an expensive suprise at the end. Really handy since on most other websites when you find a laptop with one thing you want it doesnt have another thing you want.
My parents got their computer from this site, and 7 years on its still working, although they have had to get a new monitor. Dell make lasting quality computers if you are willing to pay for them, and delivery is quick and they come when you want them to. Their help team is in India though, which isnt very good and is expensive to phone.
I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop about 2 years ago now, and had a fantastic experience buying the laptop, and have had good relations with Dell as a company as well. The product was of a fantastic standard, and the customer support was very handy. The website allows you to personalise your computer, and pick what specifications you wish your new laptop/PC to have. The customer support (extra cost) package they offer is brilliant and the two times I have had to use them, their efforts to rectify problems has been second to none.
Last year I ordered a whole desktop computer from here....but for my own satisfaction i spoke to a correspondent in Dell aswell...half way across the year...what do i get? i letter telling me that i have to pay more than £1000...that I had no idea of...so i started investigating WHY i suddenly had 2 pay so much...then i find out that i had been mis lead and how the deal I made wasn't exactly what i was told! So i reccomend everyone BEFORE you confirm your deal with them...Read the documents and papers...dont just listen to the speaks person!
When you think of dell most people think of top computers and custom electronics. And that is right you can near enough build your own laptop for what ever you need it for. And the prices for these custom laptops are not that bad, like you can get a good laptop for about £400 which i think is fairly good. What does get on my nerves about the site is that every time you click a link, it opens in a new window and it gets annoying when you have about 5 windows open and your trying to build you laptop, BUT when you do manage to close the windows down and you have sorted out all the specs you want, the site gives you so much information about your laptop and what is in it, a very helpful and informative site, if you computer does not crash from all the internet explorers open.
