If you are unable to get to a television but are able to get to a computer with internet then this is the best website ever to keep in touch with the outer world. If its news you want then reading the top 5 stories section will keep you updated with this. Or if its sport you want then it is brilliant for this. I use this website to keep in touch with all the latest football news and scores as its updated every few minutes during live games.

It is almost impossible to be particularly negative about the BBC website. Whatever your overall thoughts on this institution, the huge wealth of information and resources that the website holds makes it impressive. With real-time news, weather forecasts, a huge amount of educational information for everyone from pre-school ages up, and now the BBC iPlayer which allows you to watch recently broadcast programmes, there really is something (or many things) for everyone.

Oh and you can listen to Radio 4 live while you're at your desk. A bit sad maybe, but who cares!

This site is so useful for so many different reasons; my favourite however, is the bbc iplayer which allows you to catch up on any programmes that you've missed on the bbc in the last seven days and watch them online... ludicrously useful!

I only really use the site for sporting purposes but it is really good. It has live and up-to-date coverage of most sport. The news pages are pretty useful to. Overall, it is a pretty good site.

Bbc.co.uk is my homepage and my major source of news, particularly when I'm at university and I often don't get chance to watch the news or buy a newspaper. I find bbc.co.uk easy to use and very informative - the 'Most read' and 'Most e-mailed' stories are always interesting to look at. I especially use bbc sport frequently, either to listen to Radio 5 online, or to read stories and match predictions. The regional forecast setting is very useful, as is the ability to customise the homepage to your interests. I only really used bbc iplayer to watch some of Euro 2008, but it worked well, and was very good quality.

A really good site, I particularly like bbc iplayer, it's so much faster and better quality than the usual tv streaming sites. The localised weather forecast is also useful, although the five day one is often wrong (but I don't know of any five day forecasts that are ever particularly accurate!) I think you can get as much news and current events from this site as you can from a daily newspaper, and unlike the 24 hours news channels, you don't have to sit through a load of stuff you're not interested in to get to the stuff you are! It's my homepage, and I can often get distracted for hours at a time, browsing through all the random stories and video links that they have on there.

A pretty good website that does offer a lot of information on current issues both around the world and in the UK. I use this site regularly to look at news articles, check sport, weather etc. ALways useful for checking TV and Radio shows.

I use this website daily to check the news and what is happening on TV. it is a brilliant website with more information than you can shake a stick at. It is easy to navigate and constantly updated. IPlayer has added a new dimension to the website as it allows you to watch anything which has been on BBC TV in the last week. It really is a cutting edge and fantastic website.

This website is offers up to the minute updates on news, sport, weather , televison, radio and much more. Its like reading an interactive newspaper complete with videos and great pictures. I do look at the news alot of time however i mostly use the sport section. The sports section provides news, interviews and previews of matches on a daily basis. I also find it helpful for looking up fixtures of my team (Chelsea) without having to visit their own personal website.

This site is one of two news sites I use daily, with the other being sky.com. As I have used this site for years, I have found that BBC is second to none when it comes to news on all sports and headline news. Whilst the weather forecasts on here can be unreliable, the sports section is so good that other sites use the BBC's articles on their respective sites.

A British institution on the web, this website will offer pretty much any information you need. One of the best news websites in the world, it is well respected and can be relied upon for accuracy. Also, the newly designed sports page is magnificent, with lots of imbedded audio and video resources. It is aesthetically pleasing and very easy to navigate. The firs stop when looking for up to date news, weather and sport.

An extensive website where I can go to find articles for a university essay, check out the latest gossip, find out what is on tv and check the latest footy score. A brilliant website and BBC iplayer is an excellent addition to it.

The bbc site covers more or less everything, and is updated so frequently it's perfect for having in the background so you almost absorb the news as you go about your business. The Beta version allows you to customise your own page (a gimmick I'm not normally into), so that you can pick what news stories appear, whether you get the tv and radio listings, a quick link to your favourite blogs, etc.

Probably the best current affairs/news website around, infinitely easy to navigate and with largely less bias.

I visit this site a few times a day as it is frequently updated with news. You can also check the weather through it, and when I was at school the BBC Bitesize section of this site was helpful in my GCSE revision.

Highly recommended, I always check the BBC website for news updates, TV and Radio schedules, and the weather forecast. They layout and graphics were changed recently, making it clearer and easier to use. Also great for recipes, health information and regional entertainment guides. bbc.co.uk is a great website with links to hundreds of different pages. You can access telivision and radio information, kids games, weather, the news and much much more. It is always up to date and accurate. Highly Reccomended.

I use this website on a regular basis because I can gain access to the whole BBC spectrum from one portal. The lay-out is brilliant and it is updated on an almost minute-by-minute basis. I usually use it for current affairs but if I want to check something else concerning the BBC it is as easy as a few clicks away. This is my default web-site, highly recommended.

One of the best news and media websites around, in my opinion. It is updated every minute (apparently) and I can well believe it. Old news stories, election info, and the weather are all easy to find, and with the recent addition of iPlayer (where you can watch back the last week of BBC TV), the website couldn't be any better.

the bbc website is the best all news website on the intenet. there are many link on the website to its specific specific dedicated webpage i.e football or weather. in mu opinion the football webpage on the bbc website is the best foorball news website because it has a really easy nagivation.

The BBC website is amazingly designed and despite being a little wordy the content is great. Perfect for catching up on news developments or tracking the weather. I also used the BBC education site a great deal during my early exams as their bitesize revision guides help to aid your studies. Similarly, their are good links to your favourite shows, especially for children which have kept my cousins amused for hours during babysitting duty.

This is a great website which encompasses loads of aspects. You can find sites about all the tv channels and radio stations, including radio 1. It also has very good news and sports sections. The sport section is right up the top of my favourites list. Also the recent introduction of iPlayer has just made this website even better. You can watch repeats of bbc programs without having to install appalling software on your computer (a la 4OD). Highly recommended

Being the BBC, the content is always well written and presented and the option of customising your page is something which i really like. The news ticker is a great download too if you're into current affairs or sports.

Every time I try to find a simple item that has been mentioned on a television or radio programme, I always have trouble finding it. Indeed, I find it a bit strange that, despite the fact that they must surely know that something has been mentioned, there never seems to be a highlighted link on the Home page to save you trawling through the menus. I think the trouble is that the website tries to encompass everything it can and, as a result, you need a route map to find the simplest of things. This often seems to happen with those websites that have been in existence for years and have had sections and pages added constantly during that development. There are obviously times when a site should be completely revamped and simplified to make it easier to use and I think this is one of those occasions. There is so much good content but it's just so difficult to find.

The BBC website is one of the best services provided by the British Broadcasting Company. The news portion of the website is up to the standard of the well documented class of BBC TV news reporting, and many of their TV personalities conduct blogs from other countries, and this really helps you gain an insight into the nwes and what goes into their reporting. The sports section is also very good for British sports, and will have all major (and some minor) news stories on a wide variety of sports. You can also listen to five live radio and other stations so you can hear the lastest football match, rugby or whatever. Also worth a look is their regional pages which list the local events in your area, so you never have an excuse for not going out!

the bbc website functions brilliantly as news site (the sports coverage is especially thorough) however it has far more to offer. You can access any program from the last week plus a variety of podcasts from here (I recommend kermode and mayo's film reviews) that cover anything from football to the economy.
