Big up this place. great beer garden. perfect stop before you hit town. just dont get knocked over when you have to stand outside - it's right on the main road and it's an accident blackspot.

This is a top pub, and they do put up with a lot due to there listing on the Otley run pub crawl!! the prices are not that bad and the huge screens are brilliant of the foot ball, the reason it has a neutral is because they seem to frown on the fancey dress, HELLO its Headingley the student capital, come on people we are still young, iam 26 and use every excuse to dress up!!

Nice, very big, and great to watch live sports. Part of the popular bar crawl the Otley run - BUT they aren't keen on fancy dress. I have been in parties where we have been allowed in with fancy dress on but also in parties that have been turned away, so it depends presumably on which members of staff are in, how busy they are, and how drunk you are. If you do the full run it's about tenth on the list, so generally people are pretty merry by the time they reach it.

I can hand on heart say the the orignial oak is the most popular pub in headingley for students. They have plenty of seating inside, and the largest beer garden aorund. The atmosphere is great all year round making it a great place to go with a group of friends. It is very busy during the summer months and at most weekends, so expect queues at the bar.

The orginal oak has been popular with students for years, and hopefully will be for many more years to come. There are 3 bars, each with plenty of staff to minimise queues. Although the oak does become crowded, its amazing at how many people can fit both inside and out. Outside the pub has one of the largest beer gardens around, which is always worth a look in during the summer months, due to the lively, friendly atmosphere. The prices are student friendly to. They also serve food during the lunchtime and early evening, with alot of variation on the menus, including choices for vegetarians. All in all the oak is one of the best places to be.

What could be more studenty than a massive beer garden, cheap beer, cheap food and live sport? If you are looking for all these things then get yourself to the original oak, preferably on a sunny afternoon! This is the best of the traditional pubs in Headingley and has a great atmosphere although it can get overly busy and service can be a bit slow at times! Most of its advantages are its size and garden but it is hard to beat for those first pints of summer

This is a huge pub and has a great buzz in freshers week when it is rammed with loads of things happening! The drinks are really cheap and it has a huge outdoor area making it a very popular pub in the summer. Recently the Kaizer Chiefs were in here with Chris Moyels on radio 1! However, I do think the bouncers are on a power trip! and they have now stopped letting in people dressed up which is very sad for the Otley Run as the Oak is always a favourite stop.

Famous pub and for good reason! A great place to hang out with fellow students, especially in summer when the garden is open and a marquee is set up, sometimes selling drinks to cope with the many vistors! Word of warning - avoid the food, especially the disgusting Sunday carvery - cold, overcooked roast dinner is never nice.

On a sunny day, this is definitely the best pub in Leeds because the beer garden is just enormous. It's rumoured to be one of the largest in the country too - not sure if that's true, but it doesn't really matter too much...it's still wonderful.

a great old-man style pub which is fantastic during the day but an absolute nightmare at night. due to its popularity there are so many people queuing that getting served is unlikely. The food is also not great but the atmosphere is fab.

The only bad thing I can say about the oak is that everyone else knows its a great hangout too. theres a massive beer garden so great for warm weather but you will have to queue to get in on a nice evening or when theres a match on. The drinks are well priced and its a really good spot to go on a nice evening; your guaranteed to see some people you know if you live in headingly, whcih is nice!

Now that summer is approaching, i couldnt think of an alternative pub id rather spend my time in over summer. The prices are cheap and is very popular with the local students. The hugh beer garden behind the pub, is always busy in summer, with an uplifting atmosphere to keep you entertained.

This pub/bar is brilliant! Its in the student area of leeds, headingley and therefore attracts a vast amount of students. its situated on 2 levels with a bar in each. One of its definite highlights is the enormous beer garden which is brilliant for sunny summer days to chill out and have a get together with mates.

This pub offers something for everyone, locals often mix with students here in the very large beer garden or over the 3 floors that the old fashioned pub has to offer. It can get very busy just after exams, but what pub can't. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

Huge pub which affiliates itself closely with a lot of sports teams in the area. Frequently shows live sports but is perhaps more famous as one of the biggest venues on the Otley run. The huge beer garden is a massive draw for thirsty students when the sun decides to show itself, and within minutes of a clear sky appearing you can be sure that there will be very few if any free tables left! Really nice friendly student atmosphere on a summers day, perfect for conveniently forgetting that you have exams

The oak comes in to its own during the summer as it has an extensive beer garden so you can almost always find a seat. They do bargain pub food in the day and the drinks prices arent that bad either - the cheapest bottle of wine is around a fiver- but be warned may give you a headache! They have a function room upstairs which is great for sports teams. A good stop on the otley run as they have two bars, tip for runners make sure you put your beer coat on while your in the oak as you have a bit of a walk until you get to hyde park!

This is large pub in headingly which is always full of students and is great for watching sports games at. The pub is always busy and if doing an Otley run there is nearly always a queue outside to get in. Also, they do not allow you in, in fancy dress! There is a large beer garden which is great in the summer.

This is the place to be in the summer. A great beer garden complements this fantastic pub. Drinks are average price for the area (£2.20 for a pint) It has 4 rooms inside but it can be quite confusing if the pints have got to your head. They are quite strict on dress code on weekends but let you in if you are doing a fancy dress otley run (pub crawl)

One of the better bars in Headingley, as Andy_C states, if you don't mind an occasional invasion of Otley runners its a decent place to be- better to go on a Friday or Saturday night when the place doesn't allow fancy dress.

There is cheap food and moderately priced alcohol in this boisterous student pub on the Otley run (14 pub Leeds student crawl) If you don't mind the limited range of beer and the occasional 60 person fancy dress bar invasion this is a cheap place to drink in the middle of Headingly. There is an excellent tardis-like beer garden in the summer and occasionally brilliant comedy nights on a Thursday.

a brilliant student pub! this is located in central headingley very close to the bus stop so it is a great place to go before a night out, the only problem with this pub is that they are very eager to chuck people out when they have called time, they force you to down your drinks which can be a bit annoying when you have been allowed to buy them, so get there early if you want a chance to sit down, the oak is brilliant in the summer as they have a huge garden and often put up a big screen for the big games, they also have a bbq sometimes

This place is great but very busy with students durign term time.It has a great atmosphere, food and drinks are very reasonably priced. The inside is cosy yet comfortable, lots of space, pool tables and big screens for sporting events. It also has the largest beer garden in the country (apparently) which is great in the summer - loads of wooden benches, bbqs and music in the summer and heaters in the winter. This is a great place to go for a middle of the day drink and definately the place to be in the evening - although be prepared to queue on a friday or saturday night to get in!

Popular pub in student town of headingley, usually pretty packed every night which makes for a good atmosphere. Great place to meet friends for a drink as plenty of seating with several different rooms inside with bars and a large outside seating area with patio heaters if its cold. They also offer a lot of food and do a great sunday roast if your after some home comforts. Probably the closest thing to a traditional pub in headingley. Can also buy tickets to many of the big night out in Leeds from here which is wel worth knowing as means less queuing and guaranteed entry before 11.

A superb night or day out! The food is cheap and cheerful, typical pub grub but tasty nevertheless.Alcohol is cheap, from £2 to £2.60 for pints of lager and bitter and £2 for a single and mixer. It's even cheaper if you fill in their loyalty card, which takes a matter of minutes...if you're living out in Headingley then its well worth sorting yourself out with one!!The beer garden is the favourite hangout during the Summer months - the size of a football pitch, probably more, there is ample seating to soak up the sun, and even in winter if there are no seats inside you can sit under the heaters on the patio.

This place is huge, with 3 large rooms, and 2 bars, not to mention the famous beer garden.Busy almost every night, the Oak always shows live sport, and big games up in the Oak Room have been a highlight of my student experience. Can't fault the place.

The oak room provides a great place to watch big football games but make sure you arrive well before kick off as it becomes extremely busy. Also expect to queue for a fair while on hot summer days
