Although it's not as cheap as shopping online, blackwells is still quite cheap for a highstreet book store. It's a bit out of the way from the city centre, but it's very close to the university so convenient if you're studying there. Particularly useful are the blackwells pocket introduction books, they're really cheap and they do excellent beginners guides to a huge variety of subjects, from evolution to religion. They make a great read on long train journeys, and you don't need any prior knowledge to get to grips with them.

As it is situated opposite the university it is easy to pop in and have a look. They have a great selection of new and second hand books and so far they have had all the books i have needed. The staff are helpful and know where everything is shelved. Blackwells however can be a bit more expensive than buying the books online for example but its a lot quicker and you get to browse around.

An interesting shop as I got the impression that this solely catered for students needs and sold nothing but textbooks. This is incorrect, as it stocks a varied amount of fiction too, both at good prices. The range of textbooks is extensive in my opinion and minimal experience, but obviously I can only speak for my course so feel free to correct me! Look out for the free mug/discount vouchers that are handed out around fresher week!

Great for students - like many of the shops and banks in the surrounding area, this store focuses on student products, and stock many text books as well as fiction, suitable for courses at the universities in Leeds. Great staff - really friendly, and good sales / offers too - like student discount and January sales.

Blackwell books has a large selection of books for students to purchase for their courses. It also has an efficient ordering in service which allows users to browse from a lengthy list to ensure they get the book they require. Prices are pretty much standard

Blackwells offer a great range of books, both those for University study and just general pleasure, CDs, DVDs, gift cards and stationary. They also buy your second hand books back off you for up to 40% of their original value

A really good book shop outside of the union. They have a variety of books that you can buy. It was more popular before the union book shop came into action then everyone realised the convinience of a book store in the union. Still a good shop but I feel as though it is not as popular as it used to be.

Opposite the university Blackwell's is a good place to start your book search.
They usualy have what you need at a reasonable price and there are always bargain bins of sale items.
I have always found the books that I have needed in here.

Blackwells is close to the Uni and has lots more books for my course than Union books. It may not be as cheap as amazon but you can just walk out with your book there and then at Blackwells. They ofer a loyalty card scheme and often has 3 for 2 promotions which are great financial help at the beginning of term considering how expensive books can be. The staff also are prepared to order a specific book in for you which is really useful.

This is a bookstore opposite the university but i think it is worth going to the union bookstore or looking on amazon before going here, the books arent cheap and although they do have a good selection you will definately be able to get the same books for cheaper. the staff are very helpful however and can offer ideas of what books you might need, they are obviously clued up on course books
