Toy Cupboard
As a child, this shop was an aladdins cave and i used to love visiting it... Since having my own child,i have found the staff rather rude, unhelpful and they give the impression they dont want to be there.. No help with getting the buggy through the door, when staff could see i was struggling... They do have some beautiful gifts, but alot of items are overpriced and for main brand toys, you would be better off shopping at a large retail store....

The Toy Cupboard is a superb little toy shop for young children, for both boys and girls. There are girly toys and boy toys there like toy guns and racing cars and lots of stuff for girls. There is lots of variety there and well worth a trip if you have young children.

walking in the toy cupboard is like stepping back into your childhood. it has everything from hamma beads to board games. I love just going in for a browse and I always buy my cousins' birthday presents from there. the staff who work there are really friendly and know about anything you ask for, even if you only describe it! which is good, seeing as the latest crazes change so quickly. its a colourful shop and the prices are very competitive. there are also many small things that you can put in stockings. i bought a few things for my boyfriends stocking this year! its well priced and really nice to just spend time there.

This was easily my favourite shop in WInchester as a chlid. It sells every toy under the sun with a huge range of dolls, sylvanians, action men, and more traditional and simple toys like rocking horses and bouny balls etc. A very sweet shop but quite small so it feels a bit over crowded. Friendly staff.

a smaller toy shop but a goo done all the same ..
a lot of choice and good place to take the children to pick their presents or to get ideas..
their prices compare much the same to the usual toy shops but its a good place to visit :)

This was everyones favourite shop when they were younger. They sell all the toys a kid could want, so the Toy Cupboard is a great place to go for the Christmas shopping. Its always fun to have a quick look around whatever your age. The store layout seems a bit random, but that just adds to the experience.

Cracking little shop if you feel like treating the kids to a toy or two, if they've been good at the same prices as most other retailers although the quantity of stock isnt as much as other big named shop like toys r us.

Nice little toy shop, obviously nothing compared to toys r us, however you may be able to find some products which are not available at other large stores. No parking because its situated on a busy street, however there is a large multistory nearby. Friendly staff.

I used to absolutely adore this shop as a kid. It's an excellent place to go for presents for younger relatives. However, DO NOT take these younger relatives in with you, or you will never be able to leave.

The Toy Cupboard has a lovely atmosphere that really makes you feel part of the shop. The top level is my favourite as it has a sense of belonging for the children and they love playing in the little house. The staff are laided back but helpful, if they were stressed then I think it might spoil the feel. It makes you feel carm and you can just browse though the slevesand you are sure to find something that would be good for a little gift or for yourself.

The beauty of this place is the different levels providing all the toys a child could ever want. It could be considered cramped, but this simply allows children to search through and find little gems. The playhouse on the top floor is perfect for testing the dolls and wasting hours on a Saturday. The beautiful facade just adds to the quality feel of the place.

This is a lovely classic toy shop- there aren't enough around any more. I used to adore coming here when i was younger and spending my pocket money on the range of tiny, cheap toys that are also perfect for children's party bags. Upstairs is like a treasure box for kids, with every sort of modern and traditional toy on offer.

It's been a long time since I've been in here, but I remember it being the go-to toy store after Beattie's closed down all those years ago. Loads of toys for all age groups and good prices. There is a really nice toy shop atmosphere here, and the staff are very friendly.

Used to be the highlight of any trip into town as a kid. Although now it seems a lot smaller the high shelves are full of well crafted children's toys, two floors means you are more than likely to find what you are looking for. Great for presents but not a regular shop unless you have deep pockets.

I read about an ancient Chinese strategic board game called GO in the paper: an intriguing yet simple game that has a few rules but endless permutations of moves. Late one afternoon we went in to hunt a copy down. The staff said it was not a stock item. Fortunately one of us hunted among their huge stock and found the very thing. So it is the place to go for GO... and much, much more.

They have literally the best toys for fun in here. It affordable but looks much better than your average plastic toys for children. There is an emphasis on retro, old toys such as wooden cup + balls and yo-yos. They have really great jigsaw puzzles. Quaint shop and the staff are helpful.

A really nice toy shop that sells both classic and modern toys! It's pretty likely you'll find what you like in here, and the staff are always really eager to help you. Prices are pretty reasonable, and it has a nice child-friendly atmosphere. Also it's situated off the high street so doesn't get too crowded! Worth a look!

Loads of lovely cute stuff, children will love it in here. The only thing you won't love is the expensive prices. I always found this a disappointment when I was small - my mum wouldn't buy me any of the good stuff. Chances are you can afford it though and you can find yourself some great things.

this is an excellent place to take children, or get fairly cheap presents for children. they have absolutely everything a child could want, and is a surprisingly nice place to go. it lives up to it's name, as it has a fairly narrow unit, but with 2 storeys. very good staff, and fun layout

A classic icon in a child's life, the best toy shop in winchester with friendly staff and a huge choice of toys which can even be tested in store, an unmissable place to shop for a childs present and a great place to visit to entertain a kid if out with them in town, highly reccommended.

I always longed to be allowed to go here when I was little... Not just to buy pieces of useless childrens rubbish but also for their innovative window displays and staff willing to direct you to all number of things that you didn't know you needed before. They sell all the tools of a child's trade: from playobil to silly putty, from barbie to bouncy balls and from glow sticks to gel pens! The prices are reasonable and it gives a very independent feel.

I find that I always enjoy myself when I visit this shop. Generally, i'm far too old for most of the things in there, but i've often noticed that you can get quite a deal if you ever go in there. Usually the staff are very friendly and it's just quite amusing to have a visit.

In an age when children are too busy killing each other to realise the joy of Thomas the Tank Engine, Noddy or indeed Sylvanian Families it is comforting to know that places like The Toy Cupboard still exist. Entering into the shop is a little like walking into Narnia, you are surrounded by such vibrant colours, beautiful toys and fluffy gizmos you cannot help but smile like a three year old again. They have huge sections of both wooden train sets and lego. Dressing up and playmobil stuff is on the second floor along with marbles and craft-based kits.Searching for inspiration? Just spend a few minutes in here.
