I'm writing this review having just finished my second subway sandwich in as many days!

Subway Sandwiches
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Known as 'subs' because of the rolls used to make them (submarine rolls).
~Choosing a sandwich, If you have never visited a Subway Sandwich shop then this is how it works:
* The first step is deciding if you want a 6" or 12" sandwich.
* Next which bread to have, the breads you can choose from include:
Wheat (brown bread),
Italian (white bread),
Hearty Italian (a richer white bread)
Italian Herbs and Cheese (topped with melted cheese and herbs)
Honey Oat (A tasty, slightly sweet bread)
* You then choose whether you want your bread toasted or not.
* Now you decide on the fillings for your sandwich by looking on the menus, the menus just show the base ingredient for example; Chicken Breast and then you choose what else to have on you sandwich aswell.
You can have cheese on any sandwich if you like.
* You now decide which salad you want on your sandwich from the vast salad bar in front of you.
The salad choices are: lettuce, cucumber, tomato, green peppers, red onion, gherkins, jalapeno peppers and black olives.
* Next choose your salad dressing/sauce, you can choose from: Chipotle Southwest: a smoky sauce, Honey Mustard, Light Mayo, Hot Chilli, Sweet Onion, Sweet Chilli, BBQ or Ranch.
* You then get to the till and are offered drinks, cookies and crisps to make you sub into a meal deal if you like.
If you are trying to be extra healthy, choose lots of salad and go easy on the dressing!
To help the health conscious the following subs are all made with under 6g of fat:
Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
Ham
Turkey Breast
Turkey Breast & Ham
Subway ClubTM
Beef
Chicken Breast
Veggie DeliteTM
Subway also do a range of Breakfast Subs which I think are £1.99.
These are available before 11am and include: Bacon and egg, sausage and egg, egg and cheese, Bacon and Sausage.
Vegetarian Choice
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are only 2 sandwiches that are vegetarian and 1 breakfast sub:

Veggie Delite which is really just a salad sandwich and Veggie Patty which is a warm vegetable patty which you can add salad to.
The vegi breakfast sub is just eggs and cheese which sounds a bit boring!

I don't mind as I just love the salad at Subway but I suppose its not really much of a choice for us vegis.

The 'Extras'
~~~~~~~~~~~
*Drinks
The drinks available range from soft drinks such as pepsi, sprite, fanta etc in 3 different sizes to tea and coffee and bottled water.
All are reasonably priced with a large (which is BIG) soft drink costing around £2.50 and a cup of tea costing 90p.
* Crisps
The crisps you can choose from include classic flavours of walkers, walkers sensations, doritos and quavers at my local subway. I guess these choices may vary store to store.
The crisps cost 50p a bag.
* Cookies, Donuts and muffins.
I never pay much attention to the cookies as if I am in Subway I am trying to be healthy!
But as far as I know you can choose from white choc, pecan, milk choc and a few others.
I think they are 50p each or 3 for 99p??
The muffins cost around a £1 with choices such as choc chip and bluberry.
The donuts cost around 80p and these include iced donuts with hundreds and thousands, plain ring donuts and a chocolate covered donuts.
My favourite sandwich
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just incase anybodies interested!

6" Veggie Delite on Herbs and Cheese Bread.
With cheese, lettuce, cucumber, green peppers, red onions, black olives and jalapeno peppers!
I then add Ranch AND Sweet Onion dressing!

Mmm heaven in a sandwich!

Prices
~~~~~~~
I don't think these sandwiches are overpriced as there are not many places where you can get the personal choice you get at Subway.
My Veggie Delite is the cheapest at £2.19.
I think the more expensive sandwiches are the steak or chicken ones which may cost £3.49 for a 6".
You just add £1.75 onto the price of any 6" sub if you are wanting a 12" (footlong).
Everyday of the week, Subway do a sub of the day (this is a different sandwich for each day) which is £1.99 for a 6".
These are as follows:
Monday: Turkey Breast and Ham
Tuesday: Meatball Marinara
Wednesday: Turkey Breast
Thursday: Italian BMT
Friday: Classic Tuna
Saturday: Beef
Sunday: Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
So if your favourite sandwich is in the list head down to a subway store on that day and grab a bargain!
Also at the beginning of each season (September, December, March and May) Subway stores hand out 'the little book of savings' which is full of offers.
I got mine yesterday for Autumn 2008, the offers expire November 8th.
It contains some worthwhile offers such a a sausage sub and cup of coffee for £1.99 and any footlong sub for £3.99.
The Staff
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The staff in the store are really helpful and friendly desie doing a job whihc must start to get tedious after a few hours.

Subways is a real treat and a change from other fast food sources. If there is a bit of a que then it can take a while to get your order placed but the ease of selecting exactly what goes into your sandwitch makes it much more personal to you and the sub of the day also makes it relativley inexpensive.
