This branch of Dingles (also known as 'House of Fraser') is very well laid out. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will always aim to please you. The shop itself is well-lit and it is easy to find what you are looking for. There are clear signposts to direct you to the section you require and they have good accesibility for weelchairs/pushchairs.
I have always found the shop well staffed and have never had to wait around for someone to answer my questions or to serve me at the till.
The cafe is clean and nicely decorated and the toliet facilites are always kept clean and fresh.
All in all visiting this depatment store is a very pleasent experience.

Dingles (and all House of Fraser stores) have lots of good points ..... good make up and perfume ranges, a decent selection of bedding and towels, a fairly good selection of fashion. Dingles, Exeter's House of Fraser, has recently been smartened up and added more lines - such as LK Bennett and French Sole shoes - to it's ladies fashions. I also saw today that it sells a few nice things for Easter ..... Green and Black's organic chocolate Easter eggs (one of the best chocolates in my opinion), the Lindt chocolate bunnies that one sees everywhere but also some other prettily presented Lindt eggs, and other types of chocolates in pretty boxes and mugs.

110% better! Better clothes, better layout, better lighting, there's even a better smell! You can now ignore my first review as it has been superseded.Good work Dingles!

I thought it was only fair to write an up to date review of Dingles. Obviously the threat of Princesshay was enough to make them sit up and spend some money. New concessions including Whistles (OMG!) Karen Millen, LK Bennett and All Saints (quite exciting although these now have their own full sized stores in Exeter as well - odd). Much reduced homeware makes better use of the space - I can't imagine who used to but all that Royal Doulton and cutlery anyway.Menswear section vastly improved with good Ted Baker section as well as Gant.Revamped cafe/restaurant looks a lot better but still expensive and still bad machine coffee.Good effort Dingles - store still looks out dated compared to the shiny new shops in Exeter but it feels like a more 21st century experience.

A large but old fashioned store, based withina good location in the city centre. There is a large variety to suit all tastes, however I find the younger clothes distinctly lacking.

it may have the prime location of all shops, by being smack bang in the middle of the city centre so you would think the store was modern and elegant, seeing as it is notorious for being an upmarket store, but no the walls are painted a dull fading white, with shabby flooring. It isn't the most inspiring place to shop. the first floor is mens, bags and perfume serving are some what snooty employees, busy chatting to their collegues, which can be off putting. The ground floor is kitchen bits and bobs, and the other three floors boast an array of housing and clothing attire. The plus point of this shop is that you can manage to get what you need, just try and locate a friendly assistant first to help you.

Stepping into Dingle's is like taking a step back in time, it really does look ancient.Low ceilings, covered in painted white wires to try and hide them, air conditioning units bodged in place so that you may have to duck for them, escalators that look like they've had service for 100 years in an Underground station, the list goes on..It's a granny store, if you're a granny you might find something you like..otherwise, good luck.

I find this store so very annoying, the staff on the 'beauty/fragrance' concession are so aloof, rude & God forbid you ask them a question. The menswear section, especially the suit are quite lovely. Apart from the that it's a large store pretty much wasted on concessions that don't seem to be very popular. As other people have mentioned, it could be a fantastic asset to the Exeter shopping file, but it's not. The cafe is overpriced and the staff are less than polite. It seemslike such a wasted opportunity.

I'm afraid to say that I agree with everyone else! This department store could be fabulous but it's not! I don't really see the point of having the some of the same brands that can be found on the High Street, the space could be used a lot more efficiently, but there are some brands for example, 'Coast' that can only be found here, so it's not all bad.

A branch of House of fraiser this department store has a little bit of everything but can be quite overpriced at times. the women's clothes slection is much better than the men's but the homeware section is quite good as is the beauty section. The cafe seems overpriced but i have never tried the food. The women's clothes do have a good selection for all aged women.
