Just had a panic call from my sister-in-law - Aga out and no-one to help. I rang Russell at Spillers' service department and he couldn't have been more helpful.

Spillers installed our Aga in 1992 and have maintained it ever since. Every year they send a maintenance service agreement costing £210 for 2 routine overhaul visits in February and August. Any additional visits are subject to a £60 call out plus £44 per hour labour charge. I do think the maintenance agreement is quite expensive but on the other hand I've never had anything else go wrong with the Aga (probably famous last words) in the time that we've had it. The service engineers are professional and turn up on time. The office rings the day before to remind you to turn the Aga off. It's worth mentioning that not having had an Aga before I wouldn't be without it now. They take a little bit of getting used to in that there is not a specific temperature for ovens but you soon learn and it is the most wonderful thing to have an oven(s) and hobs that are continuously hot (particularly when you have young children and sometimes need to do food in a hurry) plus all the usual plus's of constant warmth in the Kitchen and a place to dry things. It's a cliche but no country house should be without one.
