I have been to Chester zoo, quite a few times since i was little and every time i go, i always enjoy myself as theres so much to do and see. Chester zoo plays host to around 7000 different species of animals some are endangered, and some aren't. The park is quite big and as theres so much to see i would recommend that you get there early so you have a full day to explore. It is suitable for all ages from children right up to adults. They have there own special garden area, which always proves to be popular.
The car park is spacious and can hold many cars so you won't be stuck for places.
Doted around the zoo are various places where you can eat and drink, they sell things like- hot foods( burgers, hot dogs,) cold snacks like sandwiches, crisps, salads etc. But there is also an option of eating in one of there many cafes. Although i wouldn't recommend doing this as the prices can be very high.
They have a couple of great souvenir shops, where you can pick up things like teddies, hats, mugs, pictures, etc. But again they are quite expensive.
Entrance fees are quite high but is worth it in the end, as theres so much to see and do.

Fab day out - even with the rain!

sReview_RatingImg rating on 10/10/2008 by Bananamum (3 reviews)

We recently went to Chester Zoo for my daughters 3rd birthday. When you enter the zoo the staff give you a map of the zoo that also details the feeding and talk times on the reverse so you can plan your day around them. The pengiun and sealions are a must to see at feeding times and my kids loved it, they also give an interesting talk about the sealions (for us adults). The bat cave is fab as you can walk freely in and out as many times as you like and they fly past your head, the kids loved that one too! At the moment in the zoo they are replacing alot of the enclosures so alot of them are new which is good as you can see alot more of the animals.
For lunch we always stop near the playing park for the children to have a run around. Nearby to this the children can have their face painted which costs £ 5.
The gardens are lovely and also a nice place to stop for lunch if you want something a little quieter.
A must in the zoo is the monorail - even better when raining as it takes you around all the zebra's and deer.
Kids will love the merecat molehill where they can play and see what it is like to run through tunnels.
Definately take a packed lunch and they will let you eat outside the resturants (under cover) for when it is raining.
staff are always plesant and toilet areas are clean.

Chester Zoo has to be one of the best days out. With over 7000 animals and over 400 different species so there is so much to see and do. You can visit the bat house where the bats are flying freely around you in the dark. The entry prices are quite expensive but i think its really worth it because you will have a fantastic day. Theres the chester zoo garden full of lovely flowers and exotic plants and also a big play area which is great for the children. There are restaurants and cafes so you could have dinner although its expensive so i would recommend taking your own packed lunch, also the parking is free which is great.

Amazing day out

We absolutely love this place!! We invest in a family a peak family ticket which costs 49.50 which i think is excellent value for a family of four. There is free car parking which is also great so there is no hidden expenses. First thing we do is take the monorail so the kids can take a glimpse at the animals and plan where and what we are going too see. Everything is spaced closely togethor so your not trecking large distances and if you get too tired there are waterbuses you can take which also gives you an up close view of the animals. If you time it right you can co-ordinate your day around the animal feeds, our favourite is the chimps, absolutely hilarious, guaranteed to crack a smile. The tropical house and bat cave is also a family favourite. There are plenty of places to get some lunch, however the zoo has many large picnic areas where you can enjoy ur own lunch (again also handy to keep the costs down). Overall we never get tired of this zoo as there are always new animals being born and it truly is an education at each visit. Oh also forgot to say...we have been many times we have visited when it has been raining and the majority of the zoo can also be viewed from indoors too.

I have visited here a number of times and each time has been an enjoyable experience. The map is very useful to find out were each animal is situated and there is also a monorail which goes round the zoo. I would reccommend the bat cave which has free-flying bats, which although seems scary is great fun. There is a souvenier shop and restaurant which can be quite pricey but this is the same for all attractions. I enjoyed the monkey section and there are a vast amount of different animals. We spent the whole day here and didn't get bored. A great day out for the family

Chester Zoo is a lovey fun day out for families. The zoo its self is very clean and the animals look very well looked after. The zoo is very big with lots of different animal's to look at, but get there early as it will take you all day to get round the place.

I was disappointed by the Zoo. The enclosures were too small in my opinion. One Tiger in a pen was just pacing up and down in what looked like boredom breaking behaviour. Actually a Rhino was marking similar behaviour patterns also. On the positive side though it does look like they are trying to do more conservation and education and the staff/guides are helpful and informative. There is a cafe (watch out though, prices are as high as you would expect) which sells a range of foods and drinks and there is also a picnic type area so you can take your own food. It is well laid out although it is easy to loose yourself if your not careful. There is a gift shop with lots of things for all ages. Toilets and baby change are easy to find and are clean. Disabled access and chair/buggy hire is available. They often have offers on also.

i recently experienced my first visit to chester zoo and what a fantastic place it was. From entering the park to leaving we had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly and very informative. Once tickets were paid for we were given a map to follow as chester zoo is huge and very easy to get lost. Everywhere we went within the park there were useful information points which told you information about each animal you were looking from what they ate to what sounds they made, which i think is great especially for the children as it teaches them alot more about the animals and where the come from. overall the visit was great and a very enjoyable day out.
