Not my favourite place to go in Newcastle but the drinks are good- lots of cocktails and shooters, though not cheap its a change from the standard vodka. Music is usually good- a mix of chart/dance and rnb. The danceflor can get crowded and you need to be able to hold your own from all the elbowing that goes on. Plenty of seats and its often easier to dance near the bar. The staff are often topless, which is always fun!

Bu Bambu is the place to be on a wednesday night. Attracting both newcastle and durham students, the atmosphere is awsome. The drinks are very cheap, and the queues arent that bad considering the amount of people that cram inside. The bouncers are really friendly and usually enjoy a chat as the queues die down. There is alot of glass on the floor though, so watch your feet girls.

Pretty good on a Wednesday when all the sports teams go in, but it's usually pretty rammed. Also it's not so good on the music when the music isn't that great and it's full of locals.

The music is way too cheesy, the dance floor is so crowded and it is really easy to lose people and never find them again. I find the guys are pretty sleazy and atleast 3 fights a night break out. Not the best night out.

Great club, especially on Wednesdays as any sports societies can from NCL can get themselves, and a few friends in for free (or very cheap). Musics pretty good (can get a little cheesey), and the drinks are really cheap. They do timed deals too, where a message will come on the big screens saying a certain drink is a certain price for so many minutes.

A cheesy bar to be found right in the middle of Bigg market, Blu Bambu remains a popular destination especially on a Wednesday. It is a fairly large club with a good mixture of sitting, dancing, drinking areas and is usually reasonably busy. The dancefloor is often a heaving mass of people which can make things rather interesting and the music is normally good. Average drink and admission prices.

I am not a massive fan of Blu Bambu, despite getting free entry because of AU I have only been once. It gets completely rammed on a wednesday night with all the sports teams and despite the fact that it's quite cheap I still prefer to go to digital or legends as I think the music is better and the dancefloor doesn't get so crowded that you can't move.

blu bambu is always good fun with drinks deals and cheesy music. its has loads of seats on different levels but the dancefloor is quite small. its popular on a wednesday night with all the uni sports teams but it can become too busy.

i am not a big fan of blu bamboo. the best night is wednesday but i feel it is always too crowded and claustrophobic. drinks are relatively cheap and the music is really good. they play everything from pop, dance to R&B!

Before coming to newcastle university many people use to rave about blu bambu. Dont get me wong its great that i receive free entry as i am part of the AU, and that they always have some kind of cheap drinks promotions, but i always feel it gets too crowed which means its impossible to get to the bar to get a drink and dance. Also there is always a lot of glass on the main dance floor.

Even though Blu Bamboo is one of the major night clubs in Newcastle I have to say that it is not one of my favourites. The queue is always massive especially on a Wednesday which is its main night and it is always packed inside and very sweaty. Reasonably priced especially if you are an Au members as then you get in free. There are far better student nights out there.

I would not reccommend Blu Bambu! The queue to get in is always huge, the price of drinks isn't great with the exceptions of alcopops, and the dance floor is always completely rammed! Being busy is obviously a good thing, but everytime I've been it's so busy that you can't dance for more than 10 seconds without being pushed and shoved all over the place. Drinks end up getting spilled etc. On the plus side the music was good - just annoyed me that I couldn't dance to it properly as I was being crushed in the crowds!!

An alright club, although I prefer digital and liquid. Cheap entry for students. Wouldnt recommend going on a thursday night, its very empty with only a handful of people who show up. Good atmosphere and music.

Blu Bambu is a great club! Although the Q to get in tends to be quite large, it moves quickly and is well worth the wait, especially for students who get in for only £2 with their student cards. The club is on 3 levels with the main dance floor on the bottom, there are differently styled bars on each levels selling drinks at reasonable prices. The staff are all friendly apart from one really really tall guy who is particularly sensitive about his height, but thats another story for another day!

Not too great on weekends with the £7 entry and expensive drinks where as you can have just as good night midweek for £3 entry and few more drinks offers now and again. Its a really attractive club with a great dance floor, the tunes are varied and can get a bit cheesy at times which is a let down.

There are worse clubs, but there are definately better as well. Blu Bambu seems to pride itself on its cheesy music which I have often heard moaned about, although the actual facilities there are quite nice, and there are a mixture of areas for you to sit and chat or dance the night away. One poor point however is the prices, even if it is a midweek night and entry is cheap, there will still rarey be any substaintial offers at the bar (especially for alcopop or bottle drinkers who seem to be the nemisis of the Blu Bambu management). You can always expect a varied crowd, and from experience Bambu is the best bar for having a mixture of ethnic backgrounds and different aged people, which is one of it's saving graces.

entry is expencive on weekends. however, drink prices are allright.the staff work in bikinis, not nice. too cheesy for me. they look cold, and uncomfortable. But I'm guessing it's a hit with the guys!!when the place is crowded, it's a decent place to go dancing.but if you don't like places that are too cheesy, then you should consider going elsewhere...

This is a great club for dance music and is by far one of the best clubs in the whole of Newcastle. It is a must visit club. There are two main floors and professional stage dancers as well. On Fridays Metro Radio goes live on air from the club. The club is always crammed. Drinks are a bit pricey but I suppose it is about the same as every other club. Opens till 3am. Entry fee is £5 before 12 and £7 after 12 on Fridays and Saturdays.
