Despite being slightly embaressed at writing a review for them, I thought it was necessary to give Aldi a fair chance. There is simply nothing wrong with Aldi other than snobbery (which I am afraid to say I am part of). In this country we refuse to buy into the discounter trend that so many other countries adore. I was recently surprised when some German friends of ours visited asking us to take them there as they love it and wanted some new clothes for there daughters. You could not think any less of them as this is where everyone shops in their own town. The fact is we are spoilt by our our supermarkets, and while price allows it will continue to shop in one of the big four.
However, with the threat of a recession looming how long will it be before Spalding residents start turning to discount stores in an attempt to save money? The Spalding Aldi is very successful (mostly due to the foreign workers who make the most out of not being snobbish enough not to shop there!). My family is also occassionally drawn in by the offers on non-food products such as wetsuits for £13! However we did so whilst wearing bags on our head so as not to be seen! What snobs we are!
