Apart from the tiny selection of CD's and DVD's on sale up the road in WHSmiths, HMV pretty much has the Winchester music market cornered. But it's still a pretty small store. If you are looking for anything mildly specialist, then you will have to order in, which the staff are always happy to do. The shop can get really crowded quite quickly due to the amount of goods on display and the narrowness of the aisles, due to the high demand, there is usually a queue to pay, however, at Christmas beware! The queue can then go twice round the shop and nearly out of the door! always allow plenty of time to get anything.

HMV have just cut down their music by well over half. Now I find it very difficult to find what I'm looking for, and sections such as world music and easy listening have been completely cut. I went in to get an Eddy Grant CD, and found that not only was there no Eddy Grant, but there was no Reggae at all. It's a shame as this was the only place really that you could get music in Winchester.

I always choose HMV when I need dvd's or cd's and they have a very neat little searching machine at the back of the shop which tells you everything in stock and out of stock. Sometimes the price of cd's and dvd's can be overpriced, although there is usually sales on specific items which is good.

Winchesters HMV has a good selection of music and film, well set out so that its easy to find what youre looking for. However, I find that they have often run out of DVDs I want, and the selection of Classical music is somewhat limited. Staff are always friendly and helpful theres a really good sale on at the moment!

In my first year of college, i'd at least come here once a week and spend all my money on CDs. Great for college students because you get a 10% discount if you show your student card. There's a large selection of music although it would be nice to see a bigger soul and jazz collection. Loads of games and dvds as well. Prices are pretty standard but you do have 10% discount. Staff are friendly and helpful. All in all, a good stopping point for a trip into town.

This place always has a huge selection of films, music and games and sell for about market price but they generally have a reduced section and have always got some kind of deal going on something.

This branch of HMV is situated at the bottom of the High St, and has a good variety of music, dvd's, vinyl etc. Usually they sell cd's from local bands, which is cool. They have a large selection of dvd's aswell, there are many genres to choose from. Its usually quite busy on the weekends, and its sometimes annoying trying to get past everyone. The queues can get big.

Winchester's HMV is fairly large, so has a good selection of the usual music and DVDs, as well as some other accessories and things. There is a wide selection of current and older music and DVDs and the staff are friendly and helpful in finding something you cant. The shop is always prepared to order something they haven't got there for you, and this is normally a quick order. The service is usually quick, even when the shop is busy, and the pricing is good. The only downside is if you ave an interest in less mainstream music, such as folk or jazz, as the sections for other genres such as these are very small and limited. That said there is always the chance to order what you want, and the staff are good at helping you with this.
This is a good chain store with a good selection of affordable music and media.
