How do I write a review?

In order to write a review, you must be a registered HelpHounder. Then, search for the business you would like to review. If the business is already on HelpHound, you can simply add your review. If the business is not listed, then you will need to take a few seconds to add it. Then, simply choose either to recommend the business and to write your review (add 'tag(s)' to describe the business, and if you want to, upload a relevant photo), or to send the business a message.

 

What are tags and why do you use them?

Tags are effectively keywords that you associate with businesses you review. By using tags, we get a wide range of 'opinions' of keywords relevant to the business, which then help you to find businesses when you search. A traditional directory structure would force you to think along set lines - whereas we allow every member to help make it easier for every other member to find the business they want

 

Can I change my username?

You can change your username once during your first week after registering - this gives you the chance to get used to the HelpHound community before committing yourself to your username. However, we don't allow you to change after this period, because it may confuse other users of HelpHound

 

Why can't I login?

Please make sure you have registered (this is free). If you have registered, you may be using the wrong username or password. Please check the details you are using are correct as far as you know, then use the forgotten password facility. If you still cannot login, email support@helphound.com

 

What are the symbols next to HelpHounders' usernames?

a HelpHounder - a HelpHounder, a 'normal' (but valuable!) member
an Elite HelpHounder - an Elite HelpHounder, handpicked for the quality of their contribution to the community
a Moderator - a Moderator, who helps keep HelpHound running smoothly
a Staff Member - a Staff Member, involved with the development and running of HelpHound

 

What is an Elite HelpHounder?

We hand-pick certain members of our community whose contribution is 'above the norm' - they go into extra detail in their reviews, review a wide range of businesses or help others in the forum. You cannot apply to be an Elite HelpHounder, you can only be chosen - review away and you may be rewarded!

 

How does HelpHound rate businesses?

We use our Weighted RatingTM technology to rate businesses based on what all reviewers think of the business, but, crucially what we think of the reviews. We have to keep it a bit secret, but there is some more information here
