St Ives is a beautiful seaside town in Cornwall. This is one of my favorite places to visit! The beaches are clean here and family friendly. There is a lovely harbor and a few shops. I enjoy visiting the craft shops local to the area.

St Ives is such a beautiful seaside town. Ittâs got the harbour where you can do a bit of crab lining, relax on the beach there, sit and have a coffee or seal spot (there are often seals swimming around!).
On the other side there is the main beach which is fantastic for surfing and body boarding. There are surf schools if youuâve never done it before or need to hire a board. Over looking the beach is the Tate Modern gallery which is often full of art from famous and more unknown artists. Ittâs a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon with great views over the beach.
As St Ives is in Cornwall, there are PLENTY of pasty shops. You can find ice cream and fudge shops everywhere too. There are loads of gift shops and surf shops as well as bakeries, art galleries and some great restaurants. Two of our favourite restaurants are caffà pasta on the front and the seafood caffÃ. There are also a couple of great pizzerias if youuâre feeling a bit skint and cannât be bothered to cook!
There are some great walks in st ives across the cliff tops. Defiantly take some walking boots and a big drink!
There are loads of holiday cottages to rent in st ives but they get very pricy in peak time. There is always the option of camping with a campsite located pretty close to the beach.

I holiday in Cornwall at least twice a year and St Ives is a regular visit. I love the Tate at St Ives, (part of the Tate Modern in London) There are always wonderful modern artists and exhibitions to see. St Ives itself is picture perfect. Lots of old winding cobbled streets with fabulous quirky and individual shops. Take a credit card because I have never visited without buying something! It is known as an artists colony and you can see why, the place is beautiful and is almost completely surrounded by the sea. It has several beaches and a working harbour. We usually park the car at St Erth and catch the train along the beautiful 15 min ride to St Ives which I am sure is one of the most beautiful journeys I have ever been on. With the white stone buildings and the blue sea, you could be in the Mediterranean. There are often artists painting along the harbour front plus a great ice cream shop and a pasty shop that boasts it does the biggest pasties in Cornwall, and yes, we have tried one and they are big! During the summer months it is bustling and full of people but unlike some places, even off season it stays busy.
