Antrim is often somewhere that people look over when visiting or even living in northern ireland. However it is rapidly becoming a more interesting a more populated town.
The castle mall shopping centre has reciently been extended to include a large woolworths and an 02 shop this added with the shops that are already in the centre makes it handy to get most things that you would need in the centre itsself.
A new large tesco has also been added in the past few years and stocks a wide range of tesco products and with the new petrol station also helps keep petrol prices competitive.
If these do not appeal to you Antrim has now had the added bonus of an outlet being added to in in the form of Junction one outlet complex.
Included here are marks and spencer, toy shops, bannana books, next, levis etc.. Its definatly the place to find a good bargin!!
Located close to junction one is also the antrim park restruant (now table table) this i would highly recomend the food is delicious and reasonably priced the waffles and ice cream a particular speciality!

Howvere the thing that makes antrim shine isone of its best kept secrets. Lough shore! Here you can take a leaurly walk along the river tking in the sights of the boats and the lovely greenery and then take in the ancient remains of antrim castle.

All in all antrim is dispite what most people think definatly worth a visit!

Antrim town centre has been in need of the kiss of life for some time and there have been some improvements but it would still not be a big draw for the keen shopper. It has now got Junction 1 Outlet Centre (follow the signs for Outlet Centre) just a mile or so out from the town which offers a large selection outlet shops with lots of designer and high street labels to choose from.
The town is adjacent to the shores of Lough Neagh, the largest inland lough in thes islands so there are opportunities for activities on water and some nice shore walks. Shanes Castle, the historic family seat of the O''''Neills of Clanaboy, has beautiful well maintained grounds for the visitor to enjoy. The castle itself is a ruin since the early 19th century fire destroyed it but it is sill a striking feature on the landscape and it includes a unique Carmelite house.
I f you like garden walks there is a very early example of a water garden in the vicinity of the ruin of Antrim Castle (little remains of the castle apart from a freestanding italian tower. there''''s no charge for visitors to enjoy many exceptional features including an ancient motte, a spectacular and unique parterre, long canal, round pond and paths through the demesne, as well as remnants of Antrim Castle.
