Bangor is great for a family day out. It''s only a short drive from Belfast, and is also accessible by bus and train which is really handy. I always use train to get to Bangor as the train station is very central and handy to everything you want to visit. There are many attractions in Bangor. The centre of Bangor is dominated by a very picturesque pier and harbour, which is fantastic for those who enjoy sailing! There is also a boat ride available to tourists for a very small fare to take them out into the water to take in the views of Bangor from the sea. The main attraction, particularly for families, is the popular ''Pickie Park'' - here there is a miniature train for children to ride on, an extensive and modern playpark as well as a smaller one for younger children, paddling pools, and a large manmade pond where visitors can rent out swan-shaped peddle-boats to take out on the water - great for photo opportunities!! There are also parks and fountains, which are great for relaxing around. There is parking available in the centre of town close by to the main attractions which is also really handy.
Bangor town itself is lined with many B&Bs and there are a few hotels also, so tourists are never stuck for somewhere to stay. The town is fantastic for shopping, with a great range of high street shops and a large shopping mall, as well as the popular Flagship Centre close by. There are many restaurants also available for dining, so everything you could possible need is within walking distance.
Bangor was also recently voted the most desired place to live in Ulster, proving itself to be more than just a seaside town popular with holidaymakers and tourists. Property in Bangor has become distinctly well developed in recent years, and the town is home to some of the best schools in Ulster.
