I've only lived in Devon for three years, but I love the place. I live within 15 minutes of Dartmoor and half an hour from the coast and the scenery everywhere is just beautiful. Very friendly people - even to us incomers!
I lived in Devon for 10 years and loved every second. I attended three different schools here and this is where I grew up, in Plymouth. Summer was always great because we didn''t have to travel far in order to go to the holidaying spot in England, (Devon and Cornwall). There are so many places in Devon that I would choose to live, the list is almost endless. The countryside is beautiful and the beaches (even though many people would say it is too cold to beach in Devon) are always so much fun in the summer time. The cottages, campsites and caravaning sites are the best in the country down in Devon and all so close to the beach that you can not really fault them. I would love to live somewhere in Devon when I am older, it has the best of both worlds, peaceful countryside, and city life. Dartmoor is never far away from anyone with acres and acres of countryside for brilliant walks whether it is mid winter or the height of summer.
Devon is one of the most beautiful areas of our country.Bordering cornwall is have two famour moors called exmoor and dartmoor.Dartmoor is larger and is home to the dartmoor ponies which ,you will see alot on your routes through Dartmoor.Exmoor is home to the Exmoor ponies, these are harder to spot as there is not as many of them. The Devonshire coast line is stunning with amazing scenery and beautiful beaches. As a tourist i felt very welcome visiting this area.Barnstable is a large town and i loved shopping there.Bidiford is a nice town to visit.I have stayed in Great Torrington several times and its a cute little town with alot of quirky little unusual shops which i love.I love the fact that Devon is very hilly and have a large number of valleys and cliffes.I would definatley recommend visiting Devon
Devon is a lovely place I grew up there and Il definately be moving back there with my children within the next year..Its a lovely safe place. I lived in North devon:Ilfracombe and Braunton, both places are lovely. There is lots to do down there whether its shopping in Barnstaple, family days out or going to the beach or just playing on one of the many golf courses. My personal favourite beach is woolacombe with lovely golden sand and you can get lovely ice creams there. In the summer it gets especially busy down there as is great place to take your family on holiday. Theres lots of countryside around you if you enjoy walking or going for picnics and if you go to dartmoor or exmoor you wil probably get sightings of wild horses, rabbits and deer. devon is also well known for its cream teas and scones so you wil find lots of little cafes selling these I would definately recommend going here on holiday. The photos are of woolacombe beach.
