Beautiful little town, its one of our sunday drive out afternoon places to visit, although there isn''t actually a lot there what is there is beautiful, historic and a pleasure to walk past. There are many little shops selling antiques and such like, but I don''t think I have ever bought anything in Rye! Down by the harbour is a lovely place to sit and pass the time of day and the local people are very friendly and will stop and have a chat with you.
Not easy to get about with a buggy or pushchair as the streets are cobbled, so best to take older children or young ones in a carrier, plus it is very hilly!!!

I came to Rye for a get together with some old friends, and the first thing i noticed was the beautiful sea views, which i the fantastic sea air which filled my lungs. In the centre they''re are smalled cobbled streets and to be honest its quite a maze wich is easier to get lost in. We all met up in the "mermaid pub" which help us all with ease, in the pub i asked some locals for anything they''d like to say, and most agreed that although it is small it gives a warm cosey feel for us all.

My parents were married in Rye and always insist on bringing me back to some of their old haunts. It is such a beautiful little town that i don''t mind being dragged around at all. There are so many little knocks and crannies that you can get lost up. If you are unsteady on your feet then don''t bother climbing up the cobbled streets as they are a bit difficult to walk up, however if you decide to walk up the cobbled hill towards the church then you must go to the Mermaid pub, which is where my parents went to for their wedding recption. It is a traditional old pub and well worth going to. There are so many other great places as well and as it so close to the sea, there is so much water to be seen and boats as well. There is a local market on most weekends and car boot sales as well. There is also one club in rye that has been nicknamed ryanapa. Very clever! it is full of old scary looking people so the best bet for a night on the tiles would probably be to trot round the local pubs and see which one of them takes your fancy.
