Dunfermline is one of those places where if you are a local its is okay but its not really a place to visit with lots to do. The Glen is great for families, fabulous on a sunny day and they have a nice little ice cream van if you fancy a drink or a Mr Whippy. The shopping centre has recently had a nice new extension and has a few more shops like a lovely new Debenhams, Hawkins Bazaar, New Look and The Body Shop. The Debenhams is really gorgeous, open plan, lovely, fresh and very modern with gorgeous white marble tiles. Although the selection of clothing is not as good as other Debenhams. Dunfermline also has a fairly new retail park with Bowlplex, Chinese buffet place (yum) and the usual Frankie and Bennies, Macdonalds. Pizza Hut etc. All very good and good for a Friday night. The Nightlife is Dunfermline is very much for locals I feel. The Ballroom (dont know if its still called this) used to be really quite a horrible club but full of locals and really young girls. Not been there for a few years though so it might have improved! All in all, Dunfermline is alright, its not bad - not great but has a lot of local history with Andrew Carnegie and The Abbey.

Dunfermline is a large town in west Fife. It was once Scotland''s capital and therefore has quite a rich history. The history of the town can be seen in detail by visiting Dunfermline Abbey and Palace, Abbot House and St Margarets Cave. Dunfermline is also the birth place of Andrew Carnegie and the original Carnegie Hall is here. You can also find out more about this amazing man by visiting the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum. You can also enjoy Pittencrieff Park (gifted to the town by Carnegie) which is a beautiful big park with play facilities and a small museum - lovely for a wander on a sunny day! Dunfermline is also a busy town with many small and large businesses. The shopping centre has just been refurbished with a large new Debenhams store alongside most other chain shops you would expect to find. There are also a couple of retail parks offering shops such as Comet, Pets At Home, Asda, etc. The town has many schools and also benefits from having a large college. An easy commute to Edinburgh (approx 30 mins) and Perthj (1 hour approx) and also handy for the many other towns and villages of Fife.
