i enjoyed this fishing village it has a working harbour where you can see the firshermen, some with brightly painted boats coming in in the morning with their catch. the fish is sold at market but also travels in many fish vans to different towns. the fish you eat here is nice and fresh. pittenwheem has good road links with buses running from glasgow and dundee however there is no train station. the roads are quite steep which means when you go for a walk up some of the side streets and look down you get lovely views so remember your camera. you must visit the cave the key to which is found in the gingerbread horse cafe and is available between i think it was 10 and 5 but double check that. there are alot of small houses as you walk past keep an eye out for plaques stating that they have been restored by the scottish national trust. this is a lovely wee quiet place we stayed in a self catering house which was great and gave us the freedom to see pittenweem and also travel to st andrews which is not far and the other surrounding areas.
