St Andrews is a famous city known for its wonderful golf course. It also has Scotlandds oldest university which is very popular with overseas students. St Andrews has a lot of history and you can feel it as you walk through the town. It is a very warming community and the locals are more than ready to welcome new faces .It is on Fife coast and has a few lovely beaches which are nice and clean we have spent many a happy hour or two building sandcastles and working up an appetite before visiting one of the many fish and chip shops where the food is delicious. You will be spoilt for choice with all the restaurants, pubs and bistros. Accommodation to suit everyone can be found here from 5 star luxury hotels to a great caravan park. Definitely worth a visit.

St Andrews is a beautiful coastal town to the East of Fife and is the home of Golf. St Andrews gets its name from the Apostle Andrew and in addition to being the home of Golf, it has a reputable university by the same name. The golf club in St Andrews was founded in 1754 and continues to govern the sport today. The Unviersity is of very high Calibre and is in the top 20 British universities as well as being Scotland''s oldest university. A recent famous student was Prince William who studied for his degree there. Despite these two claims to fame, St Andrews is still a quaint Scottish town surrounded by beauty. Some great sites to see include the remains of the Cathedral and St Andrews Castle. This town is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on just about anyone.

i love st andrews i have so many happy memories from both staying here on holiday to visiting for the day. St andrews has a famous golf course and who can blame the golfers for wanting to play here when they are waiting for their shot they can admire the sea! the beaches are great therre is one located by the golf course and one further along they are both popular and both are sandy beaches. the other beach has a leisure centre beside it which has a swimming pool. there is a walk up the cliff to a caravan site. the university was made more famous by prince william attending, althought the university has been there for years. there is also a sealife centre when we were there they had a few seals in and they spoke about them while they performed the odd trick for some fish. its a small sealife centre there is a shop which sells the usual stuffed seals etc. parking at the beach by the swimming pool can be difficult so go to the beach by the golf club you should get parked there but remember st andrews has a lot of admirers. the shops are nice with differnet wee shops quite a few wee jewler shops and cafes. plenty of places to eat and drink and of course plenty of accommodation.

St Andrews is undoubtedly most famous as being the home of golf. While you can do a lot of golfy things in the town - visit many golf courses (including the Old Course), the British Golf Museum, etc there is also a lot more on offer in the ancient ''''city''''. The town is also home to St Andrews University (most recently famous as being the university where Prince William studied) and has many other attractions. You can have a look at some of the many Uni buildings spread around the town, visit the Aquarium, town museum, Preservation Trust Museum, Crawford Arts Centre, Castle, Cathedral and don''''t forget to have a look at at least one of the three beaches! Even just walking through the main streets of the town you will get a feel of the history of the place - St Andrews was the scene of many key events in Scotland''''s rich history. There are many lovely shops - some chain shops while many are independent gift shops, etc and you have an amazing choice of eating out in the various restaurants, hotels, cafe''''s etc. As this is a student town you will also find a large number of bars, pubs and coffee shops! Don''''t forget to pop in to the Tourist Information Centre on Market Street for some free info (including maps, etc) and they''''ll even help you book accommodation if you need it. St Andrews really is a beautiful town/city and a place you need to visit again and again to really get a chance to enjoy all it has to offer.

What a great little seaside town! I loved the beach and the green land, it was nice to see such a well preserved town. It is the sort of place where everyone knows everyone, and the focus point was the golfing club. It is right on the coast and is famous for its reputation of golf. The University is a very prestigious University and is famous as Prince William went here. There are some really beautiful buildings around the city centre, and without spoiling the city there is enough shops and cafes to suit your needs. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants to indulge in, but if you do want to buy clothes, you wont have much luck in St Andrews. There is a lovely aquarium by the sea, and also the ruins of St Andrews castle bring tourists to the area. I found the Scottish were very friendly and I would definitely visit again!

Lovely town which is world famous for being the home of golf. Golf and tourism are the towns big sources of revenues, although the students at the highly renowned university do their bit too. A particularly nice place to visit in the summer as it has several nice beaches and multiple golf courses including the old course. There are also some great ice cream parlours in the town should the weather get on the warm side (it has been known to happen occasionally!). Definitely worth taking a day trip here
