Porth is the birthplace of my Mother so unfortunately I have had to spend a fair amount of time in this place. Without meaning to be rude, the best way to describe this valley is "The graveyard of ambition". It is situated in the Rhondda Valleys and typically has a very mountainous landscape. The positive aspects of Porth are it has a very fine swimming and leisure centre, with surprisingly modern changing areas and showers. Along one of the main streets, there is also a variety of fast food restaurants, such as chinese and indian, as well as a couple of newsagents that sell goods at extremely cheap prices. There is also a large supermarket called "Leo's", which sells everything at very low prices and the quality is pretty good. It also has a restaurant area that mainly serves breakfast. Although there are plenty of Bars and social clubs in Porth, I would not recommend visiting any of them without a local present. Porth can be a very tribal place and they are not particularly welcome to outsiders. Trouble is also a common occurence in this valley and my Auntie has had her car stolen several times, one of which was found burnt out on top of the hill. Although I have had some good times here over the years, I have never felt completely safe and I wouldn't particuarly recommend visiting here.
