Cirencester is a smallish town in Gloucestershire, filled with small cotsworld stone shops, restaurants and bars. The shops are not entirely the usual chain shops, but there are some small individual shops which are very highly recommended:
A great place to go and drink coffee is Keith''s Coffee Shop in Black Jack street, this shop has a fantastic coffee smell, and a fun/traditional feeling to it.
I would also recommend next door Coln Gallery, an art shop which has a few very knowledgeable staff and many art related goods for sale.
Now a bit about Cirencester night life; Most people will start the evening meeting in The Crown, a medium sized locally run pub, selling reasonable priced beers wines and spirits. Following the crown people often move to Mackenzies, a more upbeat bar on two levels a little bit further along in the town.
The night usually ends going to one of cirencesters only night clubs The Rock, which was once voted as being one of the worst in the country, but now days is pretty good, be warned there is a 4 entry fee and drinks can get a little pricy. Having finished here, people can go down to the carpark below to get a taxi home!
Cirencester''s night life is far from perfect, as there are such a limited number of options, the massive positive to this is that you are almost certain to bump into people you know, and it is also very easy to meet new people. If your after a more lively night out, then perhaps Cheltenham would be a better solution.

Cirencester is a lovely little town in Gloucestershire in the South of England. I have visited this town several times with schools and my college and it probably one of the reasons I took up Archaeology as a degree. The town has a rich history of Roman occupation, which can be learned about at the Corinium museum which has a mixture of displays, videos and exhibitions about the Roman history of the town. There is also the remains of an old Roman amphitheatre which you can go to visit, which is almost still fully formed, except for some of the seating no longer exists. The centre of Cirencester has great architecture with small old fashioned buildings that make it look like a small village rather than a town. The town is a great place to visit to have a look around the museums, the cathedral in the town and the other historical sites dotted around the town. There are a few shops and restaurants in the centre of the town also. The town is easy to reach from nearby cities as it is in the centre of a large network of A-Roads which makes it an easy place to get to.
