Forres is a growing town situated just off the A96 between Elgin and Inverness.
The main street is home to a number of shops both independent and chains. Included is Mackays clothes shop, a small Co-Op supermarket, a number of newsagents, chemists and a variety of Charity shops. There are some nice cafes that serve home made cakes and lunches. It is a nice town centre to have a wander round. Outwith the centre there is a large Tesco store.
In the middle of the High Street are The Tolbooth which is used by the Moray Council, Falconer Museum and The Mercat Cross which stands in front of the Tolbooth Building.
Forres is well know for it''''s floral displays throughout the town including a lovely area in Grant Park where they do floral sculptures - they have won awards in past years. There is a play park beside the car park. From Grant park you can climb up to Nelson Tower and see magnificent views across the Moray Firth.
To the east side of the town is Sueno''''s Stone which is an ancient pictish Standing Stone. It is 23 feet high and really something to look at. It is in a glass enclosure to prevent damage.
There are some lovely bars, restaurants and hotels in the Forres area.
All in all Forres is a lovely little town, there is lots to see and plenty of little side streets to explore. There is a very helpful Tourist Information on the main street.
