Greater Manchester is a balance of the rough and the pleasant and the rich estates. Home of world famous football team Man U and stars like David Beckham, Agnus Dean- the model who came from littleborough, Gracie Fields- who has a theatre name after here in Rochdale, Lisa Stansfield- a singer from Rochdale. Greater Manchester is a very big metropollin county with a population of 2.55 million. The ten metropollin boroughs are: Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Bolton, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan, and the cities of Salford and Manchester. Public transport is co-ordinated by GMPTE, and prices are reasonable at times, 5 being an adult days aver for any train, bus or metrolink. whereas 3.70 will buy you a one way ticket to Manchester on the bus from Rochdale, whihc is quite unreasonable for students on the minimum wage!

Greater manchester has a mixture of good and bad aspects to it. It does have it run down areas but what place doesnt? but also has it rich estates which really bring the city up. Greater manchester is home of Manchester Utd which last year won the double, wining the premier league and the champions league. Also the home of Manchester city who arent as successful but there stadium ( city of manchester stadium ) is a real icon for greater manchester as you can probably tell from its name. Gracie fields theatre in rochdale is one of the most famous aspescts of that area of rochdale. Many starts have come out of Greater manchester, including models, musicans, football stars and many more. Greater manchester is made up of ten areas of which are listed by alicemcg. The transport system is reasonably successful and reliable but the prices are unreasonably high which i find anoying especially when the public are suposed to be encouraged to take the public transport instead of driving cars in wake up call of the growing risk or global warming. recycle!

I''m a pretty big fan of greater manchester. Although you get small places which aren''t too nice there''s a really good spirit in most bigger places you go. Manchester is of course amazing and where I''m at university. The public transport is so good it''s really easy to reach boroughs of manchester from the centre. There''s a lot of nice countryside aswell to be seen around if you know where to go. As a southerner I don''t fit quite into the northern spirit but it''s still pretty fun and there are loads of good nights out to be had.
