Manchester is a brilliant town to live in. It has a large, modern shopping area in the centre of the town, and numerous out of town shopping centres. It boasts two Premier League football teams, including the world famous Manchester United. There is also a World Class Velodrome, which held the Cycling World Championships last March. Manchester is convenient for the nearby Peak district, which is good for walking and climbing-there are several famous gritstone routes on the peak district crags. Manchester has the largest University in Europe, and Manchester University consistently does well in University league tables. There is also Manchester Metropolitan University and Salford University. Manchester is a hugely diverse city, with a large immigrant population, particularly in South Manchester. This has led to the development of "curry mile", a busy stretch of road (you guessed it, a mile long!) which has virtually nothing but curry houses of all sizes on both sides. Manchester's nightlife is awesome-whatever you want, it's there. Manchester is unfortunately notorious as a centre of gun crime, but this problem is slowly being reduced thanks to the Greater Manchester Police, who are always highly visible and seem pretty good. Top City!

Manchester is an amazing city and I absolutely love it here! I have been a Manchester University for two years now...and could not imagine being anywhere else. Manchester has everything to offer from great shopping to lively bars, restaurants and clubs to and is voted the best student city and it is easy to see why. There is a great bus route into the centre of Manchester from the student area of Fallowfield, which is known to be one of the busiest bus routes in England. The city of Manchester is so diverse and has something for everyone. The famous Curry Mile is located in Manchester which, as the name suggests, is a mile of curry houses. Manchester is home to the famous Man United and Man City football clubs. The Trafford Centre is also located on the outskirts of Manchester. I would highly recommend this city to anyone.

Mancheter is a vibrant and fresh University town. I have been going to Manchester University for two years now and i am just about to enter my final year. At first i didnt really enjoy Manchester as it was just so big and there were so many different things to do that i just wasnt used to. However i have really learned to love it. The centre of the city is a cool place to go out and have some beers. There are just so many bars and pubs that there is no end of choice. In the winter aswell there is an ice skating venue, which i unfortunately broke my leg on. I live in Fallowfield and i suppose it has grown on me really. It is pretty cool there are litterally thousands of students and it is imposible not to meet some really top people. If you are considering Manchester as your University i would definatley reccommend to. FUN FUN FUN.

I have visited Manchester on many occaisons to visit some of my friends that go to university here and have always had a brilliant time. The city centre is massive and has loads of shops, shopping centres, cafes and bars. I especially loved the Trafford Centre which has so many great shops under 1 roof. Manchester is a great city for students as the night life is really fun and diverse, my favourite club would have to be 5th Ave, as I do like my Indie music, but other nights such as Pout and Missionary are great too.

Manchester is my favourite city in the UK to live in. It has enough big business to make it easy to find a well paying job if you''re a professional, esp. with the CWS and CIS headquarters. The nightlife is great with 5th ave and other places full of clubs - I normally hit the village starting with Baa bar (incredibly cheap drinks and a nice atmosphere) and moving on. Unfortunately like any city in the UK there isn''t for late night post-clubbing transport but it''s definitely worth taking a taxi back to whichever part of manchester you''re based in. The shopping is fantastic - personally I like the selfridges/harvey nics in deansgate and it''s great that they''re situated opposite each other - much better than in london where you have to go deep underground to get the northern line to get to their Harvey Nics and although the Selfridges isn''t as big, it has pretty much everything you could be looking for anyway. There''s also a Vivienne Westwood, a Burberry, a Louis Vuitton and many other decent shops. If you fancy a day of shopping or a night of clubbing, this is definitely the best city in the UK to visit. There''s also Affleck''s Palace, which is a great little place full of shops if you''re looking for something alternative. The other main advantage is that everything is within walking distance and parking is very readily available.

Manchester is a large city, perhaps too large for my liking, everything seemed to be too spread out. There is a large student population with all of the Universities, and the nightlife is one of the best in the country. Shops are endless, there is the Trafford centre along with the streets shops so it really is shop til you drop. It is never hard to travel, as there are several train stations in Manchester, the tram system and also the huge airport offering flights out to many countries. I find Manchester to be a great place to visit, if you are with someone who knows there way around....it is very confusing!

I have visited manchester a few times as I have a friend at manchester uiversity and grandparents that live there. I was surprised by how modern the centre of the city has become as it seems to have had a lot of regeneration put into it. The city seems to be vibrant and lively in the day aswell as at night. The city centre has large shopping and leisure complexes the printworks and the triangle and the Manchester Arndale which is a very large shopping centre which is definetly a good place to come. I found the nightlife to be very good with good bars including the scubar This is helped by the large student population from the manchester university and manchester met. I was impressed by the large manchester piccadily train station which is very well laid and very modern. The city successfully hosted the commonwealth games which shows has helped its reputation and has very good venues including old trafford and the city of manchester stadium both with large capacitities. For music there is the manchester apollo and the manchster acedemy. I saw a band at the appollo and thought the venue was very good as it is large for an indoor venue. The city also has a very large airport which I have flown from many times and is good as there is a large number of flight destinations from here. Traffic in the city can be quite bad and the M60 ringroad around the city can be very slow however it is undergoing improvements. For out of town shopping I would recommend the large Trafford Centre shopping mall which has all the shops for your needs and a large foodcourt with lots of meal options including the major fast food chains. Manchester has become of very respectable city and seems to be booming.

Manchester is huge. Like most cities that are very popular with students due to their universities, Manchester is no different. Manchester is home to 2 of the most popular universities in Britain, therefore the city is full of students. Its also home to one of the most popular football clubs, Manchester United. I have only been here a few times but i loved the amount of shops and restaurents there were to choose from. I spent loads of money whilst on the highstreet as i couldnt resist the large clothing stores such as topshop, H&M, republic etc. The nightife is also viberant, and welcomes straight and gay people. TigerTiger is always a fun night out, and canal street is a laugh despite your sexual orientation. Its a great place to go with a large group of friends, and is the perfect excuse to making new friends.

Manchester is ace. Around half a million people live in Manchester. There is a great atmosphere when you walk around and everyone seems to be fairly friendly, which you do not tend to get in London! There are two large universities in Manchester, Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan.

The city centre is easy to get around of foot and is bicycle friendly. There is a large range of excellent shops, a massive primark (it is absolutely huge!) as well as all other high street shops.

Manchester is well-known for being a city of sport. There are two Premiership football clubs in the city, Manchester City and Manchester United. Manchester United''s ground is known as Old Trafford and there is a large shopping centre near by.

Manchester also has a brilliant night life, with over five hundred licensed bars in quite a small area it is an easy place to stumble around on a big night out, there are a lot of clubs, something to suit everyones taste!

Overall it is a great place to visit, it has excellent transport links to the rest of the country and there are plenty of ways to get to Manchester, all for a different price.

Manchester is home to the largest student population in the country. The University of Manchester accepts the largest amount of undergraduates in England and that combined with the students of Manchester Metropolitan makes for a lot of students! The centre of Manchester is great for shopping and it has a lot of designer shops and boutiques. There is a huge Selfridges which is great and the Trafford centre which is a little drive out of town is famous for its hundreds of shops and having the biggest food hall in England! Basically Manchester is just very big and full of big things.

The more student orientated (cheaper) areas are Fallowfield and Withington. This is where most of the students live and there are a lot of cheap pubs and restaurants. There are hundreds of Scream pubs in Manchester and there distinctive yellow signs can be seen for miles. They do do good deals and cheap drinks though. Obviously Manchester is best known for its football and if you get a chance to go to a match then do because its a great day out even if you dont like the sport! I dont and I had a great time.

"Manchester, it''s got everything except a beach." Ain''t that the truth! Manchester is, as far as i''m concerned, the best city in the world. It has it''s problems, same as any other, but there is simply so much to see and do, so many different things to try out, something for everyone. The city has a fantastic vibe that i haven''t found anywhere else.

Manchester is an amazing place to live and im so glad that i do. The town centre is amazing, its packed full of pubs clubs and towns and people even get taxis down (especially from liverpool) to manchester just to have a night out. Theres plenty of cinemas, theatre and leisure centres etc so theres loads to do everday. It has great schools, colleges and Manchester University is named as one of the best in the country. Its a really diverse place which i love and you can meet people in manchester from all different walks of life. The only two bad things i''d have to say about manchester are the weather, its pretty much always raining and also theres a lot of litter in some areas but it doesnt take it away from manchester being a brilliant city.

I have lived in Manchester all my life. It is a vibrant city thatattracts many people ffrom all differnt back grounds, i think this is crucial as it it''s colourful population that helped make Manchester the Cosmopolitan haven that it is. In Piccadilly you can find the famous Gay Village which is know for its great atmosphere and busy social calendar. Manchester''s anual Mardegra Festival brings Manchester''s most fruitful personalities together for a great parade full of feather bowers and osdentatious floats. There is also numerious clubs and bars scattered around the city, esspecailly in the Student quarters where you can always find a nice meal and bear for about £5. Finally Manchesters fabulious array of shop. If your shopping on a budget there''s Primark which dominates Market Street and Manchester''s newly refurbished Markets. However if your looking for luxuary there''s always the stylish shops that occupy the exclusive Kings Street. Manchester is the perfect city, it''s buzzing, its loud and it''s colourful. Bordem is not an option!

I visited manchester this summer to visit an old friend and my experience was amazing! I absolutely LOVE manchester! Everyone seems friendly, and my god, the city it''''s self is a mini london!! absolutely PERFECT for shopping! it has ALL the high street shops you can think of and they are all close together! We went to actual manchester city.. and there was a massive shopping centre there.. and then LOADS of shops outside on the street... and just off the main streets there was this funky little boutique and vintage place with loads of one-off stuff and some charity stuff for really cheap, which was really different and interesting to look through!! IN manchester, however not in the actual centre of the city, there is the trafford centre, which is brilliant.. amazing shopping! i couldnt big this place up anymore really, could i?! The night life is EXCELLENT.. howvere, instead of it all being really close together, its more seprerated.. but lots of big clubs and mini little bars to start off in! when i went, i went to liquid, which was BANGING!! just absolutely LOVE manchester! The train station is massive! and even has a funky massive clock, just like waterloo!!

Manchester is a brilliant city. It has so many different businesses and there''s always something going on! The Arndale is brilliant for shopping, and has the large food court aswell. There is also the Trafford Centre out of the centre, which has most shops you could ever think of going to, all under one roof, making it great for Christmas shopping! The city has two universities, the University of Manchester (one of the top Universities in the country) and Manchester Metropolitan University, meaning that there are lots of cheap nights at certain bars and nighclubs too. The nightlife is great and one of my best nights out ever was spent in the village, despite not being gay! The city has great transport links with a big bus interchange, a train station at Piccadilly and metrolink trams running links with places such as Bury and Altrincham. It has museums (The museum of Science and Industry often has exhibitions such as recently a Dr Who exhibition, although you do have to pay to see the exhibitions, however the museum itself is free!), art galleries, and more recently the Urbis if you want a bit more culture. It also boasts Europes busiest bus route (or it was at the time I was told) running along Oxford Road! At Christmas a European Market comes to Manchester, with big German beer tents and loads of cute little market stalls selling things from handmade jewellery to chocolates! Manchester is a must visit city!

Manchester is an amazing place to shop, eat, or just hang! Since the 1996 bomb that destroyed many old buildings and shattered windows over half a mile away. Manchester is a mainly all modern buildings. The final insurance payout was 400 million, and Manchester boasta many modern glass buildings such as the urbis and Marks &Spencers and Selfridges, these buildings are works of art and have obviously been very carefully designed, with fountains and steams taht light up at night running the way through, and a big screen TV with many important football matches showed outside, with continuous BBC news updates being played throught the day, making a free soicial place for all the city to enjoy!

Manchester is a great place to visit for many different reasons wether it be for shopping, site seeing or just going to hang with friends, nmanchester has it all. With fantastic shops to start off with, manchester has a number of different shopping entres such as the arndale and the triangle, housing all the popular, trendy shops that are sure to suit you. Since the tragic bomb by the ira, manchester has seen a refurbishment, building modern, attractive buildings with the insurance money, these buildings such as the urbis, marks & spencer and selfridges. ALl of which have large glass fronts creating a modern image for manchester, with big screens and places to sit with fountains and streams its a realy pleasant place to visit. MAnchester is also home of the printworks which houses clubs, restaurants and a cinema which is great to go to after a long days shoping to unwind by watching a great film in the odeon located there or even expereince the imax!

I came here about 3 years ago, as a birthday prezzi my sister paied for us to go and have some familey pictures done, my first impressions where of the huge train station! its relly nice but over whelming. The streets are clean enough but as you get further in to Manchester you realise that it needs a huge lick of paint in some places! There is a huge gay community here and the Gay Pride march through the city is not ot be missed. Its the Trafford Center all the way for the shopper amoungst you. You will not be disapointed here oh no! there are all the major high steet brands and some independant shops too. The one thing that conserns me about Manchester is the rise in street and gun crime, it''s happening all over but here gun crime is on the increase.

The good points of manchester is the diversity but the weather can become a bit dull at times.
There is also alot to see in manchester after you get past the road work and building work that happens
sometimes.
Manchester is definatley worth a visit. It has everything you would expect from a big city, but also has many a hidden gem.
The main shopping centre is the Arndale and has recently been renovated. It houses all the big name shops needed for a full session of retail therapy.
Manchester isnt the sunniest place ever so there are lots of things to do indoors.
The city centre is home to two art galleries, and various museums. The Manchester Museum is nice and has a very wide selection of exhibitions and display.
something for everyone, Clubs like Tiger Tiger.
Theres restaurants, a gym, a cinema, and various themed bars.
i recomend manchester if you don''t want to move far between venues.

I may be biased for manchester because it''s the city I go to university in but I think it''s one of the most amazing in England. The centres been cleaned up loads to it''s actually really pretty with some amazing old buildings. Shoppings very good if you can be bothered you can also go to the trafford centre a little out of town but massive and will have everything you need. The nightlife is incredable, catering for every music taste. It has a lot of a london vibe at night but is a lot easier to get around because most stuff is based around the massively long Oxford road which there are 80p buses to go quickly up and down.
