Dover is grey, the sea is grey the beach of pebbles is grey and the buildings are all grey. People who live in Dover do not like Dover and when they can help it go to Canterbury. The high street consists of a few stereotypical shops some fast food and a couple of restaurants. Most new businesses fail and the other half of Dover is made up of its massive harbour.
However Dover does have some up points, the neighbouring schools aren''''t bad and the roads are laid out very well making it easily accessible and even easy to leave.

Dover has the potential to be great. but sadly things recently have gone downhill for dover. There are many youngsters ''hanging around'' on the street corners of which some sadly are causing trouuble for other locals. The area is also quite dirty with much litter around on the workers have been known to be unfriendly. The sea area is quite nice with an occasional pleasant view of the cliffs of france. But on the brighter side there is a good range of shops which tackle most peoples needs. The GAME there has great staff and has always been extremely friendly. There is also a marks and spencers which offers only the best food. Also, there is the Dover castle which has a fascinating historical meaning and the grounds are very beautiful. It is a good area which attracts many tourists
Dover, potential to be a good town, although at the moment is considered as one of the worst places in Britain. The tourist attraction that Dover has isn''t much apart from maybe the stone beach? maybe not, Dover doesn''t have a pier like Blackpool or Brighton which is a big shame. There''s always the Dover Castle but why would anyone in the right mind want to go there, its mostly stone walls and some balconies if you ask me.
Dover does have one of the largest ports in the UK, ferries transport people to Calais as well as the Euro Tunnel taking you to France and beyond. Dover''s crime rate is pretty high, main reason being the youths who are not being controlled well enough.
On the other hand, Dover has many restaurants, pubs, shops and a small super market in the town centre. It''s a reasonable town but it just seems to be worsening every year, nothing much has changed in the past 6 years, everything is rather grey, bland and plain. The people don''t really seem very friendly either, I feel intimidated going there alone. The top hotspot in Dover is probably the Eight Bells, Dover top Pub, located in the heart of Dover, it''s just a good place to meet up, probably the only decent place for a good night out. Dover does not have a night club, what a shame because it would be the top dog because people have to travel to Canterbury or Folkestone if they want a real party. Dover really needs a bit more love, care and support.

Dover, Dover, Dover (Regretful Sigh) ! Can you imagine what the Europeans think one a clear day coming across the channel when Dover looms into sight, I wouldn''t be surprised if the casualty rate on Calais to Dover ferries is quite high. This is unfortunate as Dover castle is arguable one of the most impressive castles in Britain, well preserved, brilliantly positioned and awe inspiring from any angle. What a shame that the rest of Dover spoils it. The County Hotel must be the worst piece of architecture I have ever seen Grey,Monstrous,Dark,Gloomy, and no I am not yet discussing Dover itself. Obviously as a port city it is going to be quite busy and you can not put this against Dover as this cannot be helped however you can say that surely as one of the main shipping entry points to Britain there could be some effort put into making it look nice. De Bradlei Warf and the Old Harbour area is admittedly nice but in a town the size of Dover it is not promising that someone who spends about 3/4 of the year there can only name 3 things. I can tell you now for sure that ''Bluebirds do not fly over the white cliffs of Dover''. Thank You.
P.S If you ever do have some time to spend in Dover go up into the cliffs for there are some nice walks up there, including the Castle itself and the National Trust walk.

If you are considering visiting Dover I would suggest you drive straight through it, and only stop once you reach Dover Castle, on the cliff overlooking the town. I would give this advise because in general Dover is quite run-down, dirty and uninteresting. Dover Castle, on the other hand, is a beauitful stunning site, with wonderful views over the english channel! There is lots to see and do in historic Dover Castle and as it was used during the first world war as a base there are ''secret'' underground passages from this era which are also interesting to see. The actual seefront in Dover isn''t too bad because the beach is generally well-kept and clean. Dover town center is a small street with few decent highstreet shops, the best being; Mark''s and Spencers, Dorethy Perkins, Boots, Subway and La Senza. If you have to spend a day in Dover there are a few things that you could do to keep you entertained; De bradley wharf shopping center in the quay, Dover discovery center and The Roman painted house exhibtion are all worth a visit. However overall I would advise to give Dover a miss when travelling along the South-East coast! Thank you.
Dover doesn''t really have a lot to offer. Ok there''s the port, the Roman Painted house and the castle but the place itself just isn''t very pleasant. The port often causes blockages on the roads and there are trench marks in the roads form the port where the lorries are ruining the road (perhaps they should be charged to use our roads as they''re the ones ruining them!) The lorries also often cause crashes on the roads in the area. I''ve lost count on the amount of radio reports I''ve heard about crashes on Jubilee Way. The town is generally quite ''grotty'' and could do with a lot of cleaning up, however this mess is made by the people of the town so if they kept it tidier then there wouldn''t be that problem. The busy town could do with a lot of care to help it improve. But I feel that some of the problems are actually caused by the people who live there, they are violent and rude, which gives a bad impression of what could sometimes be seen as a nice town. There are a lot of tourists in the area and they are also often seen in town... WHY? There are many much nicer towns in England but I guess tourists just go to Dover as it''s close to the port. However Samphire Hoe is a great place to visit and is especially nice in the summer. But really if you can avoid going there... just don''t go there... ever.
i will not lie about this.. what an absolutely ABISMAL town!! absolutely nothing to offer....... it is dull, boring and old fashioned!!! absolutely heaving with tramps and homeless people..the park is dirty, as is the beach! the sea is very polluted! It gets very windy there too... so definitely wrap up.. especially in the winter!! The night life in dover is practically non exisitant.. there are a few pubs tryin there.. but no.. what a fail!!! There arent even any restaurants that have anything to offer..........everything is dull!! There is a train station and a bus station..so that is great if you wanna get out of dover.. believe me, you will!!! The only thing dover really has to offer is the ferry service, which get you to france in like 30minutes, which you can get some bargain deals! Dover is dirty and grey.. hardly ever any nice weather!! There is a dover castle on top of the cliff.. which can be nice in the summer months and gives you a fairly nice and polluted view over the sea to france.. WINNER!!! Apart from that, dover itself doesnt really have many attractions! I used to go to a boarding school fairly local.. so this used to be my HOME TOWN.. im ashamed to say!! But yes, not such a great place to visit!!!
Dover is a really nice place FOR TRAMPS AND ASSYLUM SEEKERS. There is just nothing about it that will attract any normal human being. I see it as a port where people are imported and are exported. Seriously there is nothing going for it. No shops, it has the worst voted macdonalds in England, the hospital is awful, i have unfortunately been in there and i knew more than the doctor. The only good part of Dover are te scenic cliffs which overlook the tattiest town in existance. There is some history behind Dover with the old Castle and dungeons IN the cliffs.
