I don't go to Croyden much, tend to generally avoid going there all together really. The place isn't that nice, i always here some crime or something bad happening there.
I use spend most of my weekends there with friends when i was in high school looking for manga/ comic books (Forbidden Planet) and just go generally go shopping. There is alot of shops there are two shopping centres in Croyden now.
Public transport i have to admit is very good. There is the Tramlink and buses that go through Croyden. If you're looking for a place to go shopping Croyden is pretty good other then that i don't think it's worth going there.

i have to admit, croydon wasn''t my favourite city to live in. the city centre was fine, and very generic, with a shopping centre and very good transport links (there are three train stations in croydon, an excellent bus service and a tram as well), a cinema, bars, clubs etc. however, you can end up in the wrong part of town very quickly. west croydon especially looks like a ghetto, and is quite frightening - it''s a marked difference from east croydon which is bright and fresh and seems like it''s had time and money spent on it.
i''d live here again, it''s in zone five of london and understandably has great links into the city, but it wouldn''t be my first choice by any sdretch of the imagination.

Croydon is a very large town that is almost a city in itself. Outside of central London it is the only area that has a grand avenue with small skyscrapers, giving Croydon a beautiful skyline, especially at night. Croydon is a massive shopping disrict and has a couple of very large shopping centres or malls. On top of this, there are many shops lining the streets of Croydon making it a great place to go shopping. Croydon is the only part of London fully serviced by a tram link that connects it to Wimbledon. The only negative side to Croydon is that it is a little unsafe these days, but this is changing as there is continued investment in the place.

Croydon is quite a decent place to live, shop and socialise. It has some bad parts, where perhaps yo uwouldn''t want to be walking around alone at night, but so do a lot of other large towns and cities. The shopping in the town centre has been upgraded over recent years, and there is a very impressive House of Fraser now bang in the centre of the town. As well as this other stores like Next, Primark and HMW all have very large branches. There is also another shopping centre, the Whitgift centre, which has stores such as Boots, Sainsbury''s, Republic, French Connection and River Island. Socially, there is a large cinema in the town centre and countless pubs and bars, which cater for all tastes in music. South Croydon is actually quite leafy and there are many nice imposing houses around for those looking to buy there. For single people I think there are a lot of new one and two bedroomed homes been built, many available to keyworkers. Transport links are excellent with buses, trams and trains. I think there are some plans to eventually link Croydon to the London Underground. There is a train that goes from Victoria every hour througout the night, so if you live in Croydon and go up to London for a night out, you do not have to shell out 40 for a taxi home!

Croydon gets a bad reputation for being a scummy little chav town, not really worthy of anything. Well, to an extent its true. There are some dodgy areas, a lot of chavy people and some fairly grim shopping areas. But it''s not all bad. The main shopping centre has been scrubbed up and they have a good range of shops. As for going out at night, i f you know people in the area, go out with them. You''ll avoid the worst places and won''t be staggeing around late at night without a clue where you are or where you''re going.

Everyone always seems to give Croydon a bad name but I happen to quite like it! One of my best friends lives here so I spend a fair bit of time here and once you get past the ghetto atmosphere, it is a rather nice place. One thing I have to mention is the shopping. Fantastic. Definitely one of the best Primark's I have ever been in. It is also very easy to get to other places from Croydon with fast trains going as far as Brighton and Kent.
