This town did not make a good impression on me or my kids. This reputation of the town is as follows the crime rate is very high which includes gang wars. IIve seen better town centers and the travel system is very bad. The buses take up to an hour and sometimes they bus drivers donnt bother stopping for passengers. There is only bad to say about this place and I would not recommend this to anyone.

Ok so I''ve lived nearby and have friends in Edmonton. Would I want to live there?? NO WAY! Edmonton itself is really over built, there are small housing estates everywhere! There are places I would avoid, like Bounces Road. But the area around Hazelbury Road is quite nice, this area has many Primary and Secondary schools including The Latymer School. There is a strong gang presence in this area and Edmonton has had a lot of sad losses of Teenagers over the past few years. However, recently Edmonton Green shopping area has recently been re buit, some High Rise flats taken down and a brand new Bus waiting area. This has given a reason to visit the Area. There is also a brand new wonderful leisure centre for the locals to be proud of. A new Asda is in the process of being built which will give many great job opportunities. Given the chance and the changes that are taking place Edmonton now has potential to be a nice place to live. Maybe next they could start looking at their Green areas like Craig Park. Things can only get better and I think Edmonton will!

I see two other reviews on this town have focused on the negatives but i will try and put some positives into it too. I lived here a couple of years ago and although i found i quite a drab place to live i also love that it was always on the go and everything was open late.
the town centre has a great market, with lots of stalls from music to fish, anything you want you can find it on the market there. It has a good culture scene so many different places to eat at and stores to shop in. They have one of the best turkish cafes/ restraurants that i have every eaten in and have a good couple of turkish food shops where the food produce if fresh and good value for money. i travel to edmonton once a month from cambridge just to buy food from them, thats how impressive i find it.
The town centre has just had/having some work done on it and its looking alot more inviting than it use to.
Yes there are local "gangs" but to be honest i never found this a problem when i lived there and was never intimidated by the locals, me being a white british woman didnt cause a problem and all the neighbours were very friendly.
i probably would not move back to Edmonton but i do like to visit for the great markets and local turkish grub

There are 2 parts to Edmonton, lower and upper. Lower is much worse and has MAJOR crime issues, stay away , i would not spend any time in.
Upper edm is a nicer place, still built up, but has some better parts and nice houses.

The shops are ok in upper edm, but still not great. I would not wanna spend time in any parts for evenings out or days shopping to be honest

Congested traffic all the time and alwasy jams.
Overal, not good!!

Unfortunately, this is a town a try to avoid. But a lot of my friends are scattered around Edmonton.

The main reason is because of the continuous gang-wars and the fact that most London crime is said to be linking to this town almost all the time. And because of that, there are not many civilians walking the streets in the evenings and stay at home in fear.

Another problem is that some housing estates aren''t even near to an off license so it takes a bus ride just to get some daily essentials.
The town centre isn''t too bad, but it isn''t great. Most people walk around looking down in the dumps and the place does match the description. There aren''t many buses from the town''s centre-point, which is unfortunate if you need to travel home.
If you''re a country lover, this is not the best place to be - there are no fields around and the trees are dead all year round.

The shops are really unexciting as most of the time, they aren''t even open!
I honestly don''t recommend this place to anyone who hasn''t been brought up in an aggressive area. You don''t want to be living your life without getting out the house because you''re in fear of going to your local off license.
