Bathgate is a rapidly growing town in West Lothian, Scotland, on the M8 motorway five miles (8 km) west of Livingston, known for its importance in oil-refining in the mid-19th Century. The old, ruined castle southeast of the town was given by Robert the Bruce to his daughter Marjorie on the occasion of her wedding; some of the ruins can be found on the local golf course while the main site is occupied by the former British Leyland truck and tractor plant.d place for
With such a history it is a shame that most areas in bath gate rough and with bad reputations. When asking a friend from livingstone to take me on a day trip to bathgate she told me of the fear of being mugged entering there. eventually i talked her into the quick train ride over and really was quite unimpressed and disapointed at such a messy disgrace for west lothian. To say the least it was a disapointment.
