Edinburgh is a great city situated on the western side of Scotland - there is so much to see and do. A must is a visit to Edinburgh castle which you can see from the main shopping street set up on the hill. It looks very impressive. A guide takes you round the castle and points everything out and you are then left to look round yourself.
Shopping is good in Edinburgh, the main shopping are being Princes Street. You have got all your main High Street shops set in a wonderful location. Up on the GOlden Mile just down from the castle is loads of individual shops which are great to browse round.
Edinburgh is very accessible there being 2 train stations and buses leave regularly from Princes Street. I have never actually brought a car into the city centre so can't comment on parking.
It is very busy at Edinburgh festival time, at the end of August but there really is a great atmosphere.
I would definetly visit Edinburgh again and again.

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, and the financial and commerical centre.
This is one of the nicest capitals I have been to. Edinburgh has it all- shopping, dining, history, and nearby countryside.
The main shopping street in Edinburgh is called Princes Street. Here there are an enormous number of chain and other stores at which to shop. From here it is also possible to see Edinburgh castle, and to walk in the park that is opposite Princes Street. This road is, also, the main site of the New Year£rs Eve party, called Hogmany.
In Edinburgh, there are of course many great places to eat and drink. This is helped by the fact that there are four universities in the city, the main one being, fo course, The University of Edinburgh. Others include Herriott Watt.
It is possible to take a tour of Edinburgh Castle, and I do believe that on Sundays this is either free or reduced in price. The tour is very interesting as there is a lot of history to be learnt about this place. There are rooms in the castle which one might not expect to see.
Edinburgh is very close to some beautiful countryside, and it is worth taking a trip out to see this. One of the most beautiful attractions within one days drive is Loch Lomond, a Loch located about two and a half hours drive north of the city.

I went to Edinburgh for a few days as part of my honeymoon, being 7 months pregnant we were limited as to what we could do. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had nothing but torrential rain, this did not however stop us from sight seeing. There is a lot on offer in Edinburgh including Edinburgh Castle, The Edinburgh Dungeon, Cinema, food outlet mall and much much more. The sights from the castle were amazing and only a short distance from the town centre. With sight seeing buses you could view the entire city with an audio commentary on all the sights to be seen and specialist landmarks. We left that the nightlife was a little on the quiet side, or maybe we was just on the wrong side of town. I would recommend people visit Edinburgh and see it all for themselves.

This place really is magical. t comes alive in the build up to christmas as Princes Street is amazing for late night christmas shopping. If you are ever in need of a romantic getaway with a loved one, then this place is a must. Beautiful scenery inside and outside the city, with countryside only a short cab ride outside. he cobbled streets and breathtaking architecture make it one of the most culturally interesting places i have ever visited. The castle ruins in the city also make for a truly historical experience. Top quality restaurants are dotted throughout Edinburgh and, if you are looking for more of a pub feel, then the Grassmarket has plenty of those. Good for clubbing s well so students up there can have a very good time, as well as being around for Hogmanay (New Year) which in Edinburgh is truly incredible. Fireworks, a real community atmosphere with late night bars and clubs partying into the wee small hours, this place comes alive at night. The culture of the town shows as every street is different and has all the latest in new fashion as well as containing the old fashion and mixing it in a wonderful way. Wonderful place and is a must for anyone!!

i love edinburgh! i used to live there as a child and have visited it many times as an adult. it is an old city so although it is a large city with many modern high street shops, there is also alot of beautiful scenery and historic sights. in the city centre of edinburgh there are very many pubs and restaurants, fast food places, cafes, hotels, high street shops such as topshop, la senza etc as well as a large shopping mall, there are also smaller privately owned shops which sell beautiful ornaments, unique and quirky bags and acsessories and unique "different" items. also in the city is edinburgh castle which is fantastic historic monument and is so much fun and so interesting to visit. be warned though edinburgh castle is at the top of a very steep hill so get your walking shoes on! there are also alot of other historic sights throughout edinburgh which are great to visit. edinburgh also has many pubs, clubs and bars to suit all tastes and lifestyes, there are also very many gay bars and homosexual friendly bars and clubs in edinburgh which even if you are straight, are great fun to visit! edinburgh basically suits everyone; bars and clubs for the young and young at heart, historic sights for all ages and shopping for everyone too. edinburgh is also home to the edinburgh dungeon which tells the story of the darker side of edinburgh''s history

I visit Edinburgh often to see friends and i must say this is the 1 city i would happily up sticks to move to and leave behind everything. It is BEAUTIFUL, scenic, historical, traditional oh its wonderful. I love walking down the mile and seeing all the men in full highland gear. The Beauty of this city is untrue. They are so proud of their city and country and so they should be i am yet to see a litter filled estate with graffiti and the lot. It is truly breath taking the views driving along to get to Edinburgh. I vow to move here some day and that day really cannot come soon enough. Absolutely breath taking wonderful city

I have visited Edinburgh several times over the years and always found it to be a welcome break. The city is beautiful at all times of the year, in the summer when the festival is on its bustling with people and in the winter in the snow it is light up with hundreds of coloured lights about the place. There is amazing shopping with all the usual shops, the real difference is the setting as it is just such an historic place! There are winding roads and cobbled streets and ancient buildings not least of course being the famous castle on the hill. Its best to go to Edinburgh with someone who knows the place well as there are lots of places hidden away which are worth visiting, including small pubs and shops. A great city for a weekend break.

Edinburgh-my home town.
Edinburgh is the most gorgeous city. How many other places have a Castle on in the middle of a busy shopping street??
People are friendly. Streets are clean. So much history here. I can see why we are so busy with tourists during the festival period, and it''s lovely that people from all over the world want to visit Edinburgh.

What a wicked city with so much to do and there''s so much in there. Some of the streets are just beautiful and Arthur''s Seat just outside the main city is a great tourist and locals attraction. There are some brilliant restaurants and Edinburgh has a really great shopping district. The cost of living is much cheaper than many places further South in the UK and the cost of housing is much cheaper than some other places in the UK. I go to Edinburgh on a regular basis.

I used to come here to compeat in gymnastics torniments untill i was around 11 years old. I have been back since to as i love it here, and it''s hard not to love it. Like most places it depends on what you are A looking for in a place and B what to expect. The night life is really nice but very traditinol in the sence that it''s a quite drink in a pub, pubs are definatly the way forward here. the food in them is second to none and the people here are really nice and welcomeing. Some times you feel like you are stepping into there house and not the pub!! There is a lot of history ot be found here to, so it is an educatioal place for the kids. For the people who love to walk there are some great walks in the county side and there are well marked out trails to! allays a good thing if like me you can''t read a map! The train conections are really good to and not as expencive as you might think.
