This is a very small town which is on the out side of norwich but not that far from there. It looks like a really old historic town and i think was once known as a village it has a medievel castle look about the place but it has its modern look about it too.
All the shops are based in the centre of the town and they are the latest shops such as woolworthsand tescos but then you can get all the old shops which sell fruit and vedge but there arnt alot of shops to choose from you have to go in to norwich for a large look around shops.
The town has some really nice houses and buildings. Some are old and some are new.
There is a large soft play building where you can take the children to play which has three floors and it is full of soft play for all the kids. Thereis a small charge for this.
I have only been to dereham on two visits my older brother is in the army and his barreks ared based just on the edge of dereham down a side road but they use dereham as there main town.
It has a very old church which is really nice to looks at and it has a small grave yard which many people get wedding pitchers took in.
The town also has a few pubs and take aways which are nice and there is a couple of hotels to choose from to stay if you want to stay for the wekk or weekend.

East Dereham (or just Dereham as the locals would ''ave it) has been my home for the past six or seven years. I came here because I was a first-time buyer and the houses were cheaper than Norwich, 25 miles away via the A47!! It is a small market town with pretty much everything you would need right on your doorstep. It is surounded by local villages or hamlets such as TOFTWOOD, SCARNING and WENDLING and is situated mid-way between Norwich and neighbouring market town, SWAFFHAM.

There are two main supermarkets to choose from, TESCO (soon to be a big TESCO EXPRESS) and MORRISONS, and it''s share of cheaper alternatives in the form of ALDI and ICELAND and there is even a small SOMERFIELD actually in town. There is a fairly large WOOLWORTHS in the town centre, BOOTS and ARGOS and on the outskirts before you get as far as TESCO (which is on one of the main slip-roads from A47) there is a HALFORDS, HOMEBASE, BENNETS and a well-known chain of pet stores. We have a new swimming pool completed not long ago and there is a bowling alley and a kids amusement area combined nearby. Opposite is a park with a Skatepark for the unruly teenagers. There also pubs aplenty- THE CHERRY TREE features live rock bands every Saturday but there is also THE BULL, THE ROYAL STANDARD, THE KINGS HEAD and THE GEORGE to choose from also. A local nightclub is tucked just away from the throughfare near the big post office and is called SPLITS though locals refer to it as THE PIT or STICKY FLOOR which has never quite enamoured me enough to want to go in!!! There is a HOLLYWOODS cinema where royalty famously came to see LORD OF THE RINGS a few years ago ( I believe it was Prince Harry) and all the main banks have their place here too. A local libary is up-to-the-minute modern in a fancy new building and there is a good second-hand shop specialising in console games just around the corner. There used to be a second-hand bookshop but that has since closed down but- never fear- for there are a handful of really good charity shops locally for your second-hand book needs and the SUE RYDER shop does a nice line in old-fashioned dolls houses which it sells for the charity. There are other shops, a big newsagent, a curtains shop, a dry- cleaners and a Subway as well as a BAKERS DOZEN but I would be here all day detailing them all. Hotels locally include HILL HOUSE and THE PHOENIX and for eating there are plenty of Indians, kebab houses and Chinese to pick from- though I reccommend you avoid MR.TANG''S chinese!!!!

Overall it is a nice, quaint, quiet place to live- at weekends all manner of youths descend on the town centre to get drunk but that is the same everywhere.

Dereham- a nice little town in the centre of Norfolk...

Dereham is a lovely little market town and i have lived here all my life. It offers a wide range of shops from clothing to electrical. There is a new shopping centre which was built a few years ago offering shops such as Savers, wilkinsons, QD, Toymaster and many many more! There is 2 local High school in Dereham and lots of first and middle school which are as just as good as each other! Dereham is just of the A47 between Norwich and Kings Lynn and offers a little bit of everything. There is several Churches in Dereham and there is 2 in the town Centre its self. There are markets during the week one on a Tuesday which is help on Market place car park and one on a Friday on Cowper road Car park which are both very good especially for clothes and fruit and veg. There is lots of discount store in Dereham like the warehouse shop in Nelsons Place and Savers and QD on Chapels Walk and there are also a few more! Dereham a a thriving are with lots more buinesses coming into Dereham and they is always something new in the plans. Over the last 2 years they have build a brand new Swimming and Leisure complex on Station road which is fantistic for all your fitness need and they have also built a brand new Library on High Street which shows the Town is going in the right direction. It is defianly a place to visit and everyone who comes here always say they would like to come again.

Dereham is a small market town in the centre of Norfolk. It is easily accessible due to the A47 skirting the edge. There is parking right in the centre and also frequent bus services to other Norfolk destinations including Norwich. This town has two markets which are held on tuesdays and fridays and consist of many stalls selling farmers produce, garden stuff, crafts and clothing. All the usual high street names have a shop in Dereham alongside some smaller local businesses which makes for a more interesting and varied shopping experience. There is some interesting architecture about, from medieval right through to very modern buildings. As usual in a Norfolk town, there are many old churches dotted about which gives the town a historic feel.
