Northallerton is a gorgeous town, with so,me lovely scenery on the way into and out of.
3 Supermarkets in close proximity (either on or close to the high street) and plenty of different genres of shops make it a very amiable place to wander around and spend your hard earned money in. There is a lovely sandwich shop in the centre of the high street which I whole-heartedly recommend - their "bombs" are quite literally superb!

Northallerton is a great little town and can be reached just off the A19. Transport links are good as there is a train station, situated on the main line. Market Days are on a Wednesday and a Saturday and are really good for a browse. There are all your usual High street chains along with some little individual shops. There is A big Barkers Department store which sells just about everything you could think of. Some things are a little overpriced. There is a modern Tesco in the centre of town , which can sometimes be handy for parking especially on market days when parking can be difficult. Parking is free you just need a disc. Well worth a visit to Northallerton if you are in the area.

If you get car sick, this might not be the place for you. Loads of swerving and up and down humps to get here. I have been lost a few times around here and it wasn''''t nice. Once there, it is a classy little place. It doesn''''t have a reputation for being a very big place but I was suprised at just how much was there. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and all the ammeniities of a much larger place. It isn''''t short on banks or pubs. The high street is very wide and plenty of space for everyone to get around without bumping into each other.

Northallerton is within striking distance to several key places. Among them, and within 30 minutes away, are Thirsk (and York 25 minutes from there), Richmond, Darlington, Middlesbrough. Additionally, there are several other smaller locations nearby such as Yarm to the North and Stokesley to the East. A further 40 minutes to an hour North and you hit Sunderland and Newcastle and the same going south will net you Leeds.

Northallerton is linked to both Yarm and Thirsk on the line going to York and the south.

A key battle was fought here between the English and the Scots. It also was an important religious centre in england. It used to be a major stop for transport between Scotland and London.
