Pickering is a small tourist town situated just off the north yorkshire moors. It is very easy to find and it is cheap to get to it. It is near alot of main attractions such as Scarbrough and Flamingoland.
Many older people like to visit pickering in the summer they hold busses called the moors bus some of these busses fun from guisbrough and go to pickering over the moors it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to get there.
There is no beach hear as it is situated inland not near the sea.
It is a nice place to visit and the town has lots of side streets and small shops it also has its supermarket and vedge shops and clothes shops but it also has alot of gift shops.
Pickering is normally quiet in the winter but in the summer it gets really busy and when you go there you will find there is alot to do and see, Such a s the train station where you can take a ride on the old fasioned train. It also does shows with the trains where you can even get some of the thomas trains visiting the station. Also there is a small museam you can also visit.
There are a few pubs and reastraunts and also icecream shops and a fish and chip shop there is also a tourist information centre so if you get lost that is there to help.
You can also pick up leaflets of information to help you and give you ideas on what to do and what to go and see in this town they also give you small maps.
Pickering is for the older generation as ther is not much for younger people to do or see here and it is a very quiet place to be. So it it best for relaxing Many people like to stay here for short breaks and also retire here. It has alot of small cottages and homes which are really nice to look at.

pickering is a nice village to visit in the summer they have loads of differant attraction''s and nearby there is Also the attraction park Flamingo Land and again Pickering would make a nice residence for before going to such a loud attraction park. The tranquil town can wash away all the days worries and expenses. i would thoroughly recommend a day in Pickering if not to go see the railway but to have a nice quiet walk on the North York Moors.

Pickering is a another lovely quiet market town like the nearby towns of Kirbymoorside and Elmsleigh. It is on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors so another place to base yourself if you are taking a more energetic holiday, or just want to explore the moors by car. There are some lovely b and bbs and holiday cottages all around the area.
Pickering is probably best known for itss steam railway. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Pickering to Whitby almost every day of the year. It is the longest Steam railway in the UK and like most of them is run entirely by volenteers and donations. It is an amazing site to see it against the scenery of the moors and well worth taking a ride on.
The shops in Pickering are much the same as Helmsleigh, the usual small chains and some gorgeous individual arty type shops plus the usual few catering to the holiday makers. The market place has some lovely shops plus an art gallery and a great gift shop.
Pickering Castle is an 11th century earthwork motte and bailey castle, founded by William the Conqueror. In the late 12th century, King Henry II built the stone castle, and crowned the motte with a keep and encased the inner bailey with a wall, flanked by the Coleman Tower. It is well worth a visit. Another interesting place is the Beck Isle Museum a grade 2 listed building which is beautiful in itself. One of the exhibitions was a photography one which showed the history of Pickering and the area and that was really interesting.

Situated in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors and Famous for the Railways Pickering is a lovely quiet friendly little town and a great place to reside when off to explore the North York Moors. Plenty of local amenity, not really a town to go off on a night out but great for tea and scones on a quiet walk around. Very nice and friendly atmosphere also.
Nearby there is Also the attraction park Flamingo Land and again Pickering would make a nice residence for before going to such a loud attraction park. The tranquil town can wash away all the days worries and expenses.

A lovely little market town in North Yorkshire. Not only is it located in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors (great for walking and is a really nice place to visit when the moors are bright purple with heather) it is also where the old fashioned steam trains which travel along the north yorkshire moors railway start from. I loved the day trips with my family on the railway and is a real fun experience! 8/10
