Skipton is a medium sized town located in the Pennines, situated in the Yorkshire Dales. It really is set in a very pretty location. The Leeds Liverpool canal runs through the centre and it is really interesting having a walk along the canal and looking at all the pretty barges. You can follow the tow paths for miles.

The town itself has a range of shops - well known hig street names and some local shops. The market( Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) is amazing, there are so many different stalls.

Skipton castle is also worth a visit.

There are a range of places to stay - B& Bs or hotels and loads of good places to eat. Nightlife is quite limited but there are a range of pubs.

A good base for walking and visiting the Yorkshire Dales, not far from Bolton Abbey also.

Skipton is a lovely little town which has a beautful canal running right through it, I feel that skipton has the whole historical feel to it due to the building and lots of little alleys here and there ( likein old films). Skipton really is worth a good look around, there is plenty of shops like big brand chains aswell as little boutique type shops and bakers and pubs.As skipton is right in the middle of the yorkshire dales you can go for some lovely walk n the hills and the scenery is beautiful.
Skipton is really accesable wether it be car,bus or train.

Skipton is accessible via a train or a bus, and there is regular transport to and from the town. Skipton is rather small in size, but is full of character. Its very quiet and has a lot of historical buildings and statues, including its very own castle making it a great place to visit if you like knowing the history of places. There are a range of shops, banks, cafes and specialists like many would expect from a town. There is also a handful of traditional pubs that serve a range of traditional pub foods. In particular there is a pub that is located by the canal, which is lovely to sit in with a drink, as you can sit and watch the world go by without a care in the world. Many people forget about skipton, but i still like to think its a great place to go, especially if you want to escape from the city life for a while.

Skipton is a quiet and peacefull place in general, it is a very historic and tradional town, yet there is much to see and do, the famous skipton castle which is a landmark to the place for example. There is some reasonable places to shop with a wide range of shops, pubs, and takeaways to visit etc. The people of skipton in general are very friendly and happy with there home town. There is some beutifull scenery to see in this town aswell such as the canal routes.

I remember coming here as a child. There was narrow boats you could have a ride in and also some served food. The food i must admit was delicious, i do not know if this is still available though. Skipton has many shops, from little independant shops to new upmarket shops. It can get busy as it is a lovely place to visit. If you like your walks then definately head towards the hills, it has an amazing view. If you are wanting a break from the busy streets then come here, it is absolutely lovely. Its a place filled with beautiful flowers and lots of friendly people.

Worth a visit on your way to the Dales In fact Skipton to many is the gateway to the dales Skipton has a lot to offer both locals and visitors alike. Still a working town, Skipton continues to host weekly cattle markets. Skipton is the biggest town on the national park borders. The parish church and castle occupy strategic views down the High Street, along which youull find a very interesting local museum in the town hall.. A variety of shops both old and new encase the street market. A canal weaves behind the marketplace and narrow boat cruises are available in season. Therees some lovely woodland behind the castle gates, which make for an adventurous stroll in good weather. Next to the parish church look for the bridge over the canal and you will find the local bakery. They make scrumptious pies.

Skipton has really good bus and train connections and is only about 40 min away from Leeds city center on a bus, i know this due to falling asleep on a bus coming back from Leeds and i missed my stop!!! anyway thats another story! Although Skipton is relativley small there is lots to see here. Skipton Castle is a lovely historical land mark and is viewed by hundreds of people each year. There are so many places to eat here, and the food is mailney localy sorces, the pubs are very traditinol as is the food. There is alot of country side just on the outskirts, wich is very popular with walker and school trips. If you fancey a change from been bombarded with high street shops and you enjoy walking around without feeling like a salmon! then this is the place for you.

Skipton is a pretty town with a nice canal running through it. I visited it recently and there were a lot of pretty hanging baskets around the place. All the buildings are old and there are a lot of small alleys which make it feel quite historical. There are a few high street chains, and a lot of banks. There are loads of independent shops selling little trinkets and kitchen wear. Theres also a college of hair and beauty. I went for a meal in the Narrow boat pub, which was great value for money, and very nice food, we sat outside in the sunshine and it was great. Theres also a great bakery that does excellent homemade apple turnovers. The village is set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, and there are some great walks leading out from the village into the hills. Theres a pretty church and also Skipton Castle, which needs at least a few hours to look round. Its about 5pounds to get in for a student. Skipton is well worth a look round, and it seems to be well on the tourist map, as there were coach loads of people there especially on the canal boat rides.
