i have been to york loads of times from being a kid, and i have always really enjoyed it. I found it to be full of character and history. The city wall runs around York for about 3 miles, and I walked along a bit of it to get some great views of the town. Its free to walk up. Theres the Cathedral in the town centre which is beautiful and well worth a look inside, although the outside and grounds are also pretty to look at if you dont fancy paying to get in. In terms of shops there are all the high street chains, but also some lovely independent clothes shops, as well as some cool surf shops that had a good sale on. i also really enjoy the viking centre, definatly worth a look.

You can never be short of things to do in York, there is so much to do for all ages. Shopping is wonderful - just about every shop you could think of. I recommend the Park and Ride. Parking in the centre can be difficult and very expensive. Park and Ride is efficient providing you haven''t got a pushchair. It is possible to walk all the way around the walls. There are walks along the River and there are plenty of parks to visit - I recommend Rowntree Park for children. Lots of ducks to feed and a great play park. A must is the Jorvik Viking Centre a museum where you can smell and hear sounds from the Viking times. On an evening there are numerous good restaurants, especially Italian and there are lots of quaint old fashined pubs along with your usual modern late bars and clubs. You can also join a Ghost walk round the streets of York. HIghly recommended.

I love visiting the historical town York. It is great for shopping as it has all the major shops that us northernerrs need and its beautiful. I love going near Christmas time when all the shops are festive and it makes me feel all Christmassy. The little streets are particularly beautiful at Christmas time. In the summer it is also fun to go to because you can sit out at some of the pavement cafes or bars or on the river, and watch the world go by. In September sometime there is a York food festival, which is worth a visit. You get loads of free samples as you walk along the streets.
There are plenty of tourist attractions, the dungeon and the cathedral. I have never been on the York Eye, but apparently its leaving York soon. The town is surrounded by the walls, which you can walk along if you are interested and there are info points to tell you about things. York is also home to the National Railway Museum-not my thing, but friends tell me its very good. The Viking Centre is quite interactive and they pump in smells!
Parking is easy in York. There are loads of places to park.

Well I have been to York on two occasions now both for 3 nights and 4 days and I have still not managed to see everything that York has to offer. Unlike most towns York has kept it''s historical value and has many attractions for visitors old and new as well as the famous Christmas Market. You can learn all about the history of York by going on the York Walks and walking along the city walls. You can go on a sightseeing tour bus around York and like most things these have commentary played on them or a live person pointing out every historical landmark in York. There are many things to visit including York Minster, The York Dungeon, Viking Centre, Cliffords Tower and many many more. This City is an absolute must for any generation and be guaranteed no matter what the weather there will be plenty to keep you busy.

York is such a gorgeous place to visit, with easy access there is the coastliner, which is the cheap way to get there, from Leeds areas, and then theres the trains that are a little more expensive. At York there is the railway musem, which is free to enter and has some lovely pieces in there to look at and view, there are many nice pubs and places to eat in york, there are the York Walls, which are lovely to walk around, think last year we went for 1 night and we must have walked around them 5 or 6 times. There are ghost walks around the town, with many a tale to be told. Most Haunted has been recorded in York as it is meant to be a very haunted place. It can be expensive in York, but I found it to be well worth the money! :)

york id full of history if you make the time to explore it. There are a wealth of museums and i''''m pretty sure that when we went that there were organised tours so you got to see as much as possible whilst you were there. The viking centre and the dungeons are worth a visit, very entertaining for the little ones. Lots of shops, pubs and cafes to explore. There seem to be little cafes in the strangest of places and they seem so quaint. The road network is good around York so it isn''''t too difficult to get in or out of and parking has never been a problem for us.

York is such an old fashioned picturesque town, its brillient. Theres so many little unique shops down different streets, its like a whole new adventure down each one. The town has a historical places of interest that attract tourists and keep them entertained for hours. There are also many teashops and cafes that are always filled with people enjoying a leisurely break. The town is also home to the very reputable York University which is situated just outside the centre, however for those students looking for a good nightlife, york is not the place as there is only 3 clubs in the town. However the train ride to leeds is very short and cheap and many students commute here for a great night out. Not only does the town have its unique little shops but it has all the high-street brand names in the centre aswell such as Office and Topshop so the town caters for everyones interests and serves as a great day out.
