Frequently voted among the best places in Britain to live, Alnwick is a lovely town with plenty to see and do. There is a friendly atmosphere to the place and tourists are made to feel welcome, which is great as there are some really nice places for them to visit. Obviously theres the castle which is ever becoming more famous through its increasing number of film appearances. There are also highly impressive gardens by the castle which have had a lot of money spent on them in recent times. There are a number of other historical sites around the town including remains of the old town walls, so plenty to keep the tourists busy. As mentioned previously Barter Books is well worth a visit for any avid reader. The town has good transport links, lying near both on the London-Edinburgh train line (although Alnwick itself has no station, you have to use ''Alnmouth for Alnwick'') as well as the A1

Alnwick is a lovely town that really stands out in the Northumberland countryside. Boasting a beautiful castle (where parts of the Harry Potter films were made) and also hosting the world famous "Barter Books" (a book shop boasting over 300,000 books and being one of the largest bookshop in the UK), Alnwick is not only just a lovely place to visit when on holiday, it''s clearly also a wonderful place to spend extended visits, or maybe even to live in. There are also lots of beautiful buildings and if you need a big city then you''re never more than half an hour''s drive from Newcastle.
