I wouldn't live here, I wouldn't choose to eat here, and I definitely wouldn't advise and young girl I know to walk around here alone at night. Theres lots of drunken louts, a few pubs with bad reputations, and very little to do. The new shopping mall is worth a visit though and has vamped the centre up a bit, and the housing prices are very reasonably. Theres a few job opportunities, and theres definitely a sort of community spirit going on, everyone knows everyone. But even to drive through here its a little depressing. Its known as an industrial town really. Theres an efficient station and theres usually taxis outside, make sure they have a yellow plate though.

There isn''t really any reason to go out of your way and end up in didcot. I feels basically like a suburb and although it isn''t awful there is little to do there unless you were going with a purpose. A new shopping centre gives it a bit more appeal but overall it''s more a place for businesses than anything else. As the other reviewer said it''s a pretty good place to get a job and it''s an easy enough commute from surrounding places. Of course you will think of didcot power station. beautiful.

This is an industrial town to be honest and there is a lot of pollution and very little tourism as a result. The main high street is pretty dreary and the place has a depressing feel to it when you''re not used to it. Saying that it has a good train station, and it has recently opened a shopping centre which is much needed and provides all the major shops that the oracle in reading does. I have met some really nice and down to earth people there though and the job opportunities seem to be quiet good. There is a good sense of family values and everyone seems to know each other. The house prices are very low and you could get something lovely and central for a very low price. Theres a brilliant chinese restaurant which I can''t remember the name of and one lovely italian, other than that the restaurants are a bit limited.
