This is a lovely town and coming from Devon I actually this is quite a busy, buzzy and fairly large town. I came here for regatta and had to buy a shirt at last minute, and the shops for guys clothes seem to be pretty limited, consisting mainly of shops like "white stuff" and "deep" which are good but pretty pricey indeed! so watch out! the river is beautiful, and there are some pretty romantic walks to be had up that way. There is quite a variety of people, and the area is very safe. The quality of the food in the restaurants is flipping fantastic.

If you have never been here, you have to visit. It is just so scenic and calm. I know it would be difficult to live here if you were young but to visit it is terrific. Anyplace on the Thames can''t be all that bad. One of the things I enjoyed doing was just checking out the houses. Even just having a snoop at local estate agents will show you some very attractive places to live. I''ve been out at night here and had a good experience. It isn''t a place to visit to party but if you have a group with you, it makes for a very good (and much safer than most areas) pub crawl location.
On a good day in the summer, it is hard not to appreciate a walk along the River Thames. The location would be ideal for someone retiring or running a business from home. Very expensive place to live so that pretty much eliminates most from living here. Perhaps that adds to the area.
By car, it is easy enough to get here and a nice drive.
The shops are a bit too expensive for me. The shops aren''t my kind of taste in clothing or items anyway. If you want selection, Reading isn''t too far off.

This is a really pretty town, and has quite alot to offer seeing as its not really near many big cities (except reading, but I don''t think thats officially a city), with a few job opportunites if you''re on the ball, a train station with hourly trains to twyford, where you can change and get anywhere else. The park is beautiful and kept very clean, the walk along the rivers nice, and the festivities than come with the Regatta can be fun if you don''t mind crowds. There are lots of pubs, a wetherspoons, quite a good club for a town I suppose and some usual shops like smiths and woolies. The clothes shops are all way too expensive and filled with clothes that are pretty limited really. Its easy to live here if you dont have a car, and it feels quite safe to walk around at night. A good town to retire in, or if you have young children (some good primary schools).

Basically I think for an outside Henley is a pretty nice place. Quaint with a really pretty centre, beautiful stretch of river, lots of restaurant to eat in and very little violence or danger. Even the outskirts are pretty. However I grew up here and am pretty sick of it, there is very little to do for people under 30, one really really bad nightclub, an expensive wetherspoons and that''s about it. The shops are pretty much useless for anyone living there, boots and woolworths and W H Smiths being the only useful ones. However if you fancy a nice day out in summer definately a good place to visit.

My gran has lived near Henley for most of her life and absolutely adores it. Theres a large river running through so its nice on a sunny day to walk or sit by it and watch the rowers training. You can also go on a boat trip up and down whilst having dinner (optional). Its quite an old people town with a lot of antique type shops and not many high street chains. A good point is that there are loads of resturants and the surroundings are beautiful. Its also close enough to Reading for the people who like a livelier night out. It can get a bit mental with the traffic sometimes going through Henley, as the traffic system is not good enough to cope with the amount of visitors. Another good point is that there are loads of art galleries and so Henley is home to a lot of artists who paint the local area. My gran has had a lot of paintings at exhibition and they seem to be snapped up quite quickly.

Henley is a great little beuatiful town and is a lovely place to grow up in. There are some good shops and restaurants in the city centre, but lacks in good nightlife. The park is a great place to spend loads of time lazing around in summer, as it is right next to the thames. Tourists seem to love it here...espicially around regatta time.
