This is definitely one of the safer cities, and one of the most wealthy, and is home to 2 very prestogious universities. I've recently discovered the summertown area which is lovely to visit. There are some really nice places to live round here and some pretty amazing restaurants, it still feels like you're in the city, but in a more calm area. You could walk into the centre in about 20 mins which isn't too bad and the walk is quite a nice one. When it comes to nightlife, the drink prices are diabolical, at abput 6.80 for a double at the weekends, and the vibe isn't always the best for some reason. Theres some beautiful architecture, and quite a few celebrities about. Its quite hard to get anywhere from the Oxford train station in under an hour and without having to change.

Home to the prestigious and world famous Oxford university, Oxford is a beautiful city and well worth a visit. it is home to many exciting pubs and clubs a great shopping centre and close to lovely parks. I visited recently and was impressed with the clean and effecient trains. the people are all very friendly and helpful and you will enjoy wondering around the cobbled streets and discovering little alleys often housing tradional styled pubs. the waterways around the city are very impressive and pleasing to the eye. this exquisit city is well worth a visit, eben if it is just to say i have visited oxford!

Oxford is a truely historic town being host to the world''''s oldest University.
Oxford is the perfect place for a day trip if staying in London and has many different places to visit. Each of the colleges which form part of the main university open their doors for a small contribution and there are often tours around the grounds. There are tour buses that take you around the city and it is truely one of the most beautiful places in England. Walk alongside the Thames and enjoy the wonderful scenery or go into the high street and shop till you drop. There are a fantastic variety of restaurants to eat at and if you are looking for good night life, look no further.
A great time to visit is on May day each year when the Magdalen choir sings as the sun rises at 6am in the morning. An awe-inspiring event through and through. One final claim to fame for Oxford is that it is the home town to the BMW Mini Cooper factory that builds all the Mini Coopers that are then shipped out around the world.
If driving on the roads around Oxford, look out for fast cars shooting by. Jeremey Clarkson and Rowan Atkinson are known to shoot up and down them in their wonderful cars.

Oxford is filled with history and a great place to visit. You can easily get there by train and bus or by driving. If driving, I''d recommend taking advantage of the "park and ride" locations. The train is only a few minutes from the heart of Oxford. Whether you want to shop, sit and relax in a old pub or check out the University, Oxford is really worth your while. I''ve been a few times and each time I end up doing something completely different.

Other than the obvious attractions, Oxford is a fabulous city to be in during term time. During the holidays, the students disappear and the city fills up with tourists and foreign teenagers who come over to learn english. During term time, however, the city is a dynamic and exiting location in which academic and social life thrive. Student nights out are enormous fun, and some bars, such as the purple turtle, offer cheap drinks. Visit libraries during the day, not only the famous bod, but specific department libraries, and find some truly hidden gems. Oxford is not only historical and beautiful to look at, but much more interesting when one immerses onself into the life that the students adopt there. A wonderful activity to partake in, is of course, punting, which is best done in the summer term. Take some friends and some pims and enjoy doing what students have been doing for centuries, and still enjoy today. Visit Oxford, but more importantly, live Oxford, and enjoy it much more.

Until I applied to university in Oxford, I hadn''''t actually visited it despite living so close. I have no idea why though as its an absolutely gorgeous city with so much to do and now I just can''''t get enough of it!
Oxford is probably most famous for its main University which is many centuries old and still one of the best in the world. The colleges are open to visitors at certain times of day and are great to look around - be warned though, it can get very busy through the summer! Oxford is also home to the popular Oxford Brookes university which although not as central is only a short distance from the city centre. Oxford has a lovely pedestrianised shopping centre with many of the well known high street brands as well as some more expensive designers. In a similar sense, Oxford has all the classic restaurants as well as some more inidividual ones. I''''d recommend taking a visit to Little Clarendon Street at night for a romantic meal and cocktails or checking out some of the quirky hidden away pubs such as The Turf! Oxford is a very green city with lots of parks, including University Parks where you can see Oxford University training for sports such as rugby and football during term time. Another famous past time here is rowing so make sure you go and check this out, and to really immerse youself in Oxford university life its really lovely to come down during the Summer Eights regatta at the end of May when its really busy with supporters and teams. Alternatively come at a less busy time with a picnic and hire a punt for a really traditional day out in the Oxford countryside! Obviously as this city is a big student centre, the nightlife is very good for such a small town, though if you don''''t fancy clubbing there is always the theatre and cinema (though the screens are tiny!) Transport links are very good with a train station with fast links all over the country. Oxford also has many buses, one of the best I think is the OxfordTube, for which you can buy 1 tickets to London (if you book in advance at www.megabus.com) and arriving at London Victoria within 1hour 20mins - amazing!

This is a really pretty city and theres alot to do and see if you''re visiting here. They have two very popular universities there, which definitely adds to the student vibe of the city, however this is not reflected in the drink prices, which are appalling. Theres a massive range of pubs and bars, and some big commercial clubs which mostly have been redecorated recently. There aren''t any drum and bass venues that I''ve found yet. The people keep to themselves generally or are very friendly, its mostly pretty safe as far as I know. There are lots of lovely restaurants and a averagely good bus system.

I still havn''t completely made my mind up about oxford. Basically it''s a really really pretty city, exactly how it looks in the films when they show oxford university. Lots of green bits and big stone arcitecture. It''s not massive so you can find your way round and there''s a fair amount of shopping. My problems with oxford more stems from the night life. It seems very very public school to me which gives it a bit of a weird atmosphere. The clubs playing very good drum and bass, techno or anything of that sort are pretty hard to find. Prices are also not student friendly which means a night in the pub will end up costing you as much as it would to have gone clubbing somewhere else. However you can have a good night, maybe just not an amazing one.

Oxford is really good because it is a beautiful city,is full of history and architecture, also because there is So much to do.
Oxford is accessible by coach, railway and obviously motorway. However it is not recommended that you drive directly into Oxford,
we decided to go by park and ride, which was very satisfactory.
Me and my family walked up and down a few streets admiring several beautiful buildings; however we really didn''t have a clue what they were.
By this time we were starving so we went to that renowned Oxford restaurant Pizza Hut.
Then we decided that we really wanted a tour around Oxford. There are plenty of ways to tour Oxford, you can take a bus tour, a walking tour, or buy a tour book and do your own tour, in fact we found lots of helpful tour books, but we decided to choose the tour bus.
The tour bus showed us the main features of Oxford, including the fantastic library with 11 stories and its own underground railway! Obviously we didn''t see all 11 stories and the underground railway, but we heard about it.

Oxford is a beautiful city with the world''s greatest University taking over lots of the cities buildings. The shopping facilities are good, although not incredible and there''s a good night-life, although there is definitely space for an increase in that department. Oxford plays host to a variety of museums and has a library (linked to the university) that stocks every single book that has ever been published in the entire world. The city is great to walk through, although some of it''s road systems are a little confusing and not entirely logical.
